Spike Spondike

Spike Spondike is an award-winning Senior Typeface Designer at Monotype. Her experience includes almost a decade working with Dalton Maag (London), and the past two years with Colophon Foundry (London). With a knack for not following the rules, Spike created the voluptuous typeface Blenny (Dalton Maag), the exaggerated angular Serif, Kibitz (Colophon), and Nokia Klingon (Dalton Maag). She has worked with global agencies designing typefaces for some of the biggest names we know. Originally from the USA, Spike gained a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the University of Cincinnati, studied Graphic Design Foundation at the Academy of Art University (San Francisco), and finally earned a Master's Degree in Creative Practice for Narrative Environments at Central Saint Martins (London). Spike is obsessed with container ships, enjoys DJing, making noise on her synthesisers, field recording, and creating soothing soundscapes.
