The Most Powerful InDesign Release Yet
This year’s Adobe InDesign release is the most powerful release yet. Comprising the latest innovations powered by Adobe Sensei, integrating more than 14,000+ fonts, releasing top customer requests, and including over 30 performance improvements, this is one of the most comprehensive InDesign releases to date.
New properties panel
No matter how you use InDesign, the new properties panel will help you work quicker and more efficiently. All the controls you need now appear when you need them. You no longer need to have multiple panels open — and can easily keep your workspace neat and tidy.
Content-Aware Fit, powered by Adobe Sensei
More than 75 million images are placed into InDesign every month. Each time an image is inserted into a document, you may make small adjustments like scaling or repositioning the image so that it looks just right for your document.
With Content-Aware Fit, we’ve made it easier to fit images into your frames. When you insert an image, InDesign uses artificial intelligence to detect the best parts of the picture, then scales and repositions it so only the best part is displayed.
How many times have you finished a document, but for some reason or another, that document needs to be resized for printer specifications or a change in page size? Layout Adjustment now automatically helps you resize your document. This feature uses advanced algorithms to resize pictures and text frames so that you can painlessly resize documents without having to start from scratch.
Import PDF comments
If you share InDesign documents with your clients via PDF, you now have a streamlined way of tracking comments in those documents. With this new feature, you can import marked-up PDF files into InDesign, easily track the feedback, and accept or reject comments. Selecting a comment will also conveniently highlight the selected place mentioned. Lastly, documents can also be exported as PDFs with comments embedded so that the reviewer can see all actions taken.
Adobe Fonts Integration
With this release, you can look forward to a vastly improved experience of exploring and finding the right font within InDesign. With direct integration with Adobe Fonts, you can now access the 14,000+ fonts that come with your Creative Cloud membership directly within InDesign CC. You can preview fonts in your design without activating them, and if you like what you discover, it takes just one click to activate and license that font — all at no charge as part of your Creative Cloud membership.

Even more enhancements
Every release of InDesign includes lots of under-the-hood changes addressing user-requested updates. This year is no different. Here are some of the updates we have made hot in InDesign:
OpenType SVG Color font support
Design with the latest in font technologies. Now you can use OpenType SVG Color fonts in InDesign. These fonts can have embedded colors, gradients, and transparencies.
Footnotes in tables
You can now insert footnotes directly within tables. This feature also allows for the importing of footnotes in tables from Microsoft Word documents.
You now have the option to choose whether or not to include packaging instructions for printers.
Export saved file preferences
InDesign now remembers the last export preferences per document. Now if you have multiple InDesign documents with different export settings, rest assured that the performances remain with each document.
Choose fonts in PDF forms
If you create forms in your PDF documents, now you can customize the fonts displayed in the forms when you export your document in PDF format.
Spacing between paragraph styles
You now have the option to add spacing between paragraphs with the same styles, either before or after, so you no longer need multiple paragraph styles to achieve the same styling.
Maintain file name
Now you’ll find a new preference in your export settings that allows your exported document to have the same name as your InDesign document. You no longer have to specify the name each time you export a document in InDesign.
Under the hood, we’ve made structural changes to the application so that working with text is faster and more responsive. We’ve seen the response time of working with text improved by 10–15 percent.
