Adobe RoboHelp 10 is here!!

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the all new Adobe RoboHelp 10. This release offers dramatic new workflows that make it easier than ever to create, import and deliver content using a familiar, author-friendly environment. RoboHelp 10 enables you to publish socially-enabled content to multiple screens/devices using HTML5, take advantage of the end-to-end workflow with SharePoint, create eBooks and increase enterprise productivity with several authoring enhancements.

We as a society are in the midst of a transformation that affects not only consumers, but every business trying to reach them. This is a much broader shift than just the move to mobile — it’s a shift to multiple screens, when people are interacting across many devices – such as personal computers, mobile phones, tablets, internet televisions, and countless other touch points.

With over 500 million smartphones selling each year, 400 million tablets expected to sell by 2014, nearly 1 billion people on Facebook and over 40 billion apps expected to be downloaded this year – the content delivery is undergoing a significant shift. And we believe RoboHelp 10 will help our customers deliver technical content to multiple screens and channels in the format of their choice, work more efficiently and with better results.

Publish to multiple screens/devices using Multiscreen HTML5

https://blog.adobe.com/media_2a7cbc387110df9e1d21565ed45518cf6058fd73.gifMultiscreen HTML5 in RoboHelp 10 brings new single-sourcing versatility with unsurpassed ease-of-use. Now you can author and publish contemporary help content to virtually any device with multiscreen HTML5. Multiscreen HTML5 offers modern-looking frameless SEO-friendly HTML5 output. By removing the technology roadblocks, you can focus on content. RoboHelp 10 offers Screen Profiles that support desktop and popular devices categories. Popular devices (e.g. iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Android phones, Kindle Fire) are supported out of the box; and to future-proof the solution RoboHelp allows you to add more screens as more devices come to the market. You are ready to publish in one click, as there are several Screen Layouts specifically designed for these devices. In addition, there are several desktop screen layouts designed for different verticals e.g. manufacturing, software, government, pharmaceutical, financial services etc.; there is a “social” layout as well to socially-enable your documentation. Choose from these ready-made layouts or create your own with the Screen Layout Editor.

I love Responsive Design and you will love how can take advantage of fluid layouts, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS 3), media queries, and conditional tags to deliver dramatically different appearance of content based on the device the content is accessed from. Multiscreen HTML5 also helps you in optimizing content per screen and delivering excellent search experience to your end-users.

If you are looking to deliver offline content to your end-users, RoboHelp 10 will help you package this HTML5 content and create native mobile apps (e.g. .apk for Android). Mobile apps need help too! So, now you “have a help app for that!” Easily deliver Context Sensitive Help for mobile apps using a library of Adobe APIs (iOS and Android).

End-to-end workflow with SharePoint

https://blog.adobe.com/media_14a249dbd661463d7fb4d003732ce36dad3c3627.gifRoboHelp 10 supports version control with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 natively, which means you do not need to install any third-party plugins. You can share/link SharePoint assets across multiple RoboHelp projects and authors using Resource Manager in RoboHelp. Host the PDF for _review in the SharePoint _workspace. And finally, publish RoboHelp content directly to a SharePoint site from within RoboHelp.

I often hear from SharePoint users that the traditional tri-pane (WebHelp) HTML format does not blend with the SharePoint chrome (the navigational links, branding, and UI options that come from a SharePoint master page and are common to all SharePoint pages). RoboHelp 10 supports publishing the Multiscreen HTML5 output to SharePoint in its native format (ASPX), ensuring a problem-free display of output in both SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2007. When you view the published output, the topics appear in the SharePoint chrome as a single continuous HTML page.

eBooks

https://blog.adobe.com/media_c4b8067fde75073068dca78b2b5fac1bfed9cb37.gifWe’re introducing eBook as a new single source layout in RoboHelp 10. Now you can deliver content to smartphones, tablets, and eBook readers in EPUB 3, EPUB 2.0.1, KF8 and MOBI formats. Publish to devices in the format of your choice, with extended support for EPUB validation, Index, Glossary, cover-page, and meta-information.

Increase Enterprise Productivity

Take advantage of several authoring enhancements in RoboHelp 10 to boost author’s productivity; User Defined Variables (UDV) in topic title, CSS enhancements, multiscreen preview, media queries, new multi-file Find and Replace pod, event-based script triggers, rapid step-by-step authoring, and import of Adobe Captivate HTML5 output are just some of the new additions. The PDF review workflow has been enhanced to support CBT, drop-down and expanding text, and to provide additional ways to manage the review workflow and filter/present technical content.

This by no means is an exhaustive list of what’s new in RoboHelp 10. I encourage you to look at the Reviewer’s Guide, download RoboHelp 10, and experience the new workflows. Also join me for the eSeminar “What’s new in Adobe RoboHelp 10” on** August 14, 2012 from 10-11:30 AM US PST**, where I will walk you through the new capabilities in Adobe RoboHelp 10.

I’m really excited about this release and hope that you all will share our excitement. Let us know what you think.
