Did you miss RoboHelp 101 “Summer School?”
With the busy summer months of June and July, you may have missed our “Summer School” session, which was a 3-part overview of RoboHelp. Our goal was to give you a “20,000 foot view” of the products most important capabilities.
Fortunately, all webinars were recorded, and we have placed links in this blog. You can click on the title of each session to go to landing page to view each recording. Please note that the landing page will look like a webinar registration page, and will require your I.D. and password from your free, Adobe.com account. Also note that anywhere you see underlined, hyper-linked text in presentation slides or in the chat window, you may click on that link and go to the URL destination.
Here’s a brief summary of what you missed. We hope that you can watch all 3 recordings. Due to popular demand, we will probably have a 2-part “advanced” session on RoboHelp 11 in the Fall.

Basic workflow and overview of how to use existing projects as an end-user are covered first. Then the session dives into recommended work spaces (controlling panels), locations of most frequently used menus and essential tools. This session will also covers:
- creating new styles and mapping existing styles to imported content
- importing or linking FrameMaker or Word source files
- adding graphics
- Editing content and creating new topics
- Exploring projects and layouts provided out-of-the-box with RoboHelp
This session will give you a good grounding on creating a project or topic from scratch, as well as how to bring existing text and graphics into a project.
RoboHelp 101, Sess 2) Links, dynamic data, multimedia and multiple versions

Discover how to make your projects come alive, with guided navigation and a more engaging experience for your customers. Help control search results, plant relevant links and find out how to collapse a series of images into “pop-up” images in a list. The session will include:
- working with hyperlinks, bookmarks and Dynamic HTML for drop-downs
- Image maps for hotspots in screen captures and ways to control display of multiple images
- conditional build tags and expressions for multiple versions
- UDVs (user defined variables) for changing product names, contact info, etc.
- Snippets and resource manager for shared information: change once, update all instances
The second session will give you a good sense of how you can make your content much more accessible for your consumers, often with a simple drag n’ drop gesture. Fortunately, RoboHelp 11 requires little or no expertise in XHTML or CSS to accomplish great results.
RoboHelp 101, Sess 3) Single-source layouts, multi-channel publishing and collaborative review

Move beyond traditional WebHelp (or other formats like *.chm) with multi-screen HTML5 output to multiple devices. Discover how single-source HTML5 profiles allow media query to determine which version to serve up on a tablet or mobile device, and also how you can automatically have different versions of your content display on different devices. Perhaps your Help documentation requires different definitions for gestures like “click mouse” for desktop or “pinch to zoom” on iOS.
Find out how you can swiftly modify an existing out-of-the-box layout with our new, visual layout editor to modify appropriate CSS. The session will include:
- Controlling profiles for different devices
- How to publish to ePub and both Kindle formats simultaneously
- Methods for previewing your content on a topic or project basis before final publication
- Creating collaborative review based on selected portions from the TOC, or based on approval/draft status, or files modified in a certain time frame
- How to import PDF review comments and annotations “in place” in your RoboHelp source files to avoid last minute errors.
- … and much, much more.
This final session gives you a good grounding in how to do single source publishing to multiple devices with dramatically different formats and display. Amazingly, you can accomplish all of this without ever editing a style sheet. All examples used in this session came “out-of-the-box” with RoboHelp 11.
