One more area that grants the user “special powers” is ExtendScript. Widely recognized FrameMaker and XML expert Chris Despopoulos will join us from Europe to show several vibrant examples on how you can “go” even further than you could imagine with XML structure in FrameMaker. As with his previous webinar, Chris will have several sample files and scripts that you can download during this live experience for your own hands on.
This session is based on using ExtendScript to “Walk the Structure Tree” – loop through all the elements in your structured document. We’ll explore uses of that basic technique to do things such as:
- Get an array of elements of a certain type
- Find all elements that are missing an ID value
- Search through an EDD for the declaration of a specific element
