Building a Vibrant Marketplace for the Creative Community

It’s been an exciting year for the Creative Cloud. We made hundreds of updates to our CC desktop applications. We launched a new family of CC-enabled mobile applications and opened up our Creative SDK to third party developers. We introduced a new market asset service; we deeply integrated Typekit into our applications; and we made substantial improvements to Behance. And we tied it all together with your Creative Profile – log in once and access everything that’s part of your Creative Cloud membership.

Your response and support throughout the year has been equally exciting. Millions of you are now active members in Creative Cloud and Behance, our creative community. It is through your involvement that some interesting dynamics formed: some of you are looking for jobs or trying to hire creative talent, while others are looking to buy or sell content. In effect you started self-organizing into an ad hoc marketplace to buy and sell assets and services.

We took a big step in October as we launched Creative Talent Search to help members connect with opportunities and I’m thrilled to say that we’re taking another big step today by entering into an agreement to acquire Fotolia, a leading provider of stock photos, images, graphics and HD video.

Fotolia will provide an exceptional platform to enhance your Creative Cloud experience; they offer more than 34 million images and videos in 23 countries and in 14 languages. We know that stock content is a critical service many of you rely on, so we’re excited to integrate Fotolia’s global network of buyers and sellers, along with our Typekit font market and our new Creative Talent Search, into a single Creative Cloud marketplace experience. We will, of course, also continue to support Fotolia as a standalone offering.

Our marketplace plans have two basic tenets:

  1. Simplify and accelerate your design process: We envision Fotolia will help simplify and accelerate the design process by providing easy access to premium stock content directly within Creative Cloud.
  2. Grow your careers and increase your earning potential: As we integrate Fotolia, we believe our members will use Creative Cloud as the place to discover and buy great content – and also as a place where they can sell and showcase their work.

I’m excited to see Creative Cloud evolve as the place people go to create, share, collaborate and work. With Fotolia, we open up the opportunity for you to find and monetize your content, among a global audience of creative peers and potential clients. Think about it: With over 3.4 million members and counting, there are endless opportunities for you to easily participate in this rich marketplace to help drive your best work and your careers.
