Ranking Among the World’s Most Ethical Companies Takes Commitment, Action and Leadership

For the fifth year in a row, Adobe is honored to be named one of the World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies. According to Ethisphere, the list recognizes “companies that truly go beyond making statements about doing business ‘ethically’ and translate those words into action. WME companies not only promote ethical business standards and practices internally, they exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today.”

What I like most about Ethisphere’s WME is that its methodology shines a light on initiatives that take an enormous amount of effort, but don’t typically make the headlines. Corporate responsibility initiatives, ethics, compliance and governance programs are at the heart of being a great company. They require investment and discipline to make an impact, but most of all they have to be woven into the fabric of a company’s culture.

This is the most important point of all – which is that behind every highly ethical company is a culture that promotes a way of thinking, behaving and working which results in doing business “the right way.” In 1982, John Warnock and Chuck Geschke founded Adobe on a simple principle: “we wanted to build a company that we wanted to work at.” Since then, we’ve consistently attracted a workforce that supports our core principles of integrity, respect, honesty, quality, responsibility and fairness.

We believe good business begins with a commitment to the highest ethical standards, and we do it because it’s who we are as a company. But today, it sure feels great to be acknowledged for it!
