Keynote Day 1Keynote Day 2Keynote Day 3

Keynote Day 1 by Noz Urbina

On the first conference day, November 2, Noz Urbina, founder of Urbina Consulting and author of “Content Strategy: Connecting the Dots Between Business, Brand, and Benefits”, will talk about how Technical Communication is changing to Marketing Communication.

Technical Communication is Marketing Communication: How Structure is Connecting the Dots

Start: November 2, 2016 – 9:00 San Francisco | 12:00 New York | 16:00 London | 17:00 Berlin | 21:30 New Delhi

Noz Urbina

All communication, all over the world, is evolving at an unprecedented pace. The global demand for content has reached an unprecedented high. So we’ve got to work faster, and at a scale for which we’re simply not prepared.

The good news is that organizations are waking up to the fact that they need to rethink their approach to content, and everything that it touches. As a result, we’re finally seeing the cross-pollination in departmental communication teams that thought-leaders have been encouraging all these years. We’re seeing new methodologies, like Customer Journey Mapping, that facilitate taking an overall look at customer experiences across departments and channels.

For technical communicators, all this analysis and innovation has sent an early clear message: technical content impacts customer experience and affects buying decisions. Therefore, it’s also marketing content! For marketing communicators, structure, semantics, and separation of format and content are the only way that they can meet the new demands of speed and scale, in a connected way, across many channels and touch points.

In his keynote, Noz Urbina will look at some research and client examples that show how the worlds of content are coming together for the benefit of customers and businesses. At long last, we can start to really work together.

Keynote Day 2 by Dr. JoAnn T. Hackos

JoAnn Hackos, Ph.D., Founder and President of Comtech Services, Inc. and author of eight major books on information development, including Content Management Strategies for Dynamic Web Delivery, will deliver the keynote on the second conference day (November 3) at Adobe DITA World 2016. JoAnn Hackos highlights in her keynote the methods used to help content creators, wherever they are in the company, work together to develop a singular voice to address customer information needs.

Integrated Content Creation: Inviting Content Creators to Work Together

Start: November 3, 2016 – 9:00 San Francisco | 12:00 New York | 16:00 London | 17:00 Berlin | 21:30 New Delhi

JoAnn Hackos

Ask yourself a key question – “Are you developing information to support the same product that marketing is selling?” If the answer is “No,” it’s time to broaden your outlook.

Professional information developers have a crucial and increasingly important responsibility – to look beyond a focus on technical information development and develop an integrated content creation strategy.

Such a strategy begins with an inventory of all the types of content developed and made available to customers by various groups within the company. Content could originate from anywhere – marketing, education and training, external communities, blogs, and more. It could even originate outside the company, as long as it is focused on helping customers succeed.

With an inventory in hand, information-development managers can help to sponsor a company-wide Content Council that assumes responsibility for eliminating redundant work, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and identifying gaps or unmet content needs among the customers.

An active role in Content Curation ensures that the company’s content speaks with one voice, delivers an integrated message, and ensures that customers find the information they need to be successful.

Keynote Day 3 by Andrew Bredenkamp

Andrew Bredenkamp, founder of Acrolinx, will deliver the keynote on the third conference day (November 4) at Adobe DITA World 2016. has been solving content problems for the world’s biggest brands for over 20 years. He completed his studies as a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence in the 1990s, before starting Acrolinx at the turn of the century. As well as running his company, he is also Chair of Translators without Borders – helping humanitarian organizations across the planet communicate better with local populations. Creating Amazing Content

Start: November 4, 2016 – 9:00 San Francisco | 12:00 New York | 16:00 London | 17:00 Berlin | 21:30 New Delhi

Andrew Bredenkamp

For the last 15 years, we have heard people talking about “breaking down the silos” of content. But sadly very little actually happened. Until now.

In the last two years, silo busting has become a reality – and DITA and structured content is right in the middle of it. But much as the technologists can rejoice about these trends, the transformation has not been driven by technology. It’s been driven by the customer – and the realization that great customer experiences are a significant competitive advantage.

At the same time, content-driven marketing and the demand for audience-specific communication has increased the pressure on content teams to create ever more, ever faster. And the right technology is a key part of the solution.

Andrew will talk about how some of the biggest brands in the world are creating joined-up high-velocity customer experiences and how DITA-based solutions are enabling them.
