Adobe India announces CodHERS hackathon
Written by Abdul Jaleel, vice president, employee experience, Adobe India
With a passion for changing the world through digital experiences, we’re taking the lead in developing product innovations to help our customers stay ahead in today’s era of digital disruption. We take pride in working with some of the best engineering minds across the globe to drive our innovation agenda. And diversity, which brings together individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, has been core to Adobe’s success.
India is recognized as a hub of software engineering talent, and the strong contribution of Adobe’s R&D team in India is a testament to that kind of talent. Over the years, our India team has grown to a solid 4,000 plus employee base, and it’s heartening to see more and more women technologists becoming a part of this team. However, according to a recent report by International Data Corporation, only 18 per cent of the five million software developers in India are women. While this number has risen tremendously in the last decade, there is still a vast opportunity to create the next wave of skilled female technologists. At Adobe, we are excited to be a part of this transformation.
I am proud to announce Adobe India’s first ever ‘Only for Women’ Hackathon – CodHERS 2016. This four-hour long online virtual hackathon will be held on November 12, 2016, and will uncover the brightest women developers and coders in India through a series of algorithmic programming challenges. As a prepping exercise, participants will be allowed to have a look at the environment in which the code will run and also try out a sample code given in Solve Me First to get familiar with the I/O.
With CodHERS, our goal is to build a network of female engineers across the country and create excitement around careers in engineering for women. With this initiative, we will also provide internship or full-time opportunities to the top 20 participants.
CodHERS provides a platform for women engineers in India to demonstrate their talent as well as inspire other women to join the industry.
With this, I welcome all women engineering students in India to register for Adobe CodHERS Hackathon and showcase their potential!
