Telegraph’s Chris Taylor’s Call To Action: Everybody Innovate!
Innovation labs and teams are rarely productive, says Telegraph Media Group CIO. He intends to provide licence to innovate and support to everyone in his organisation.
The news media industry has been at the forefront of digital disruption for more than a decade. What’s the best approach to innovation amid such turmoil?
For Chris Taylor, CIO of the Telegraph Media Group, it means tasking everyone to come up with new ideas.
Speaking to CMO.com at the Adobe Summit EMEA 2016, Taylor said: “I expect everyone who works for us to be seeking to be innovative. I’ve tried various models of creating an innovation lab and innovation team … but it creates the idea that there are people in a room whose job is to do innovation, and it’s not the responsibility of anyone else. That doesn’t create the right type of behaviours and is rarely productive.”
He added: “We seek to make it clear to everyone in the organisation they have licence and support to be innovative … and that we are prepared to take some risks and try some new things.”
