From Shoot to Sale: Part 2

In the first part of our lifestyle stock photography tutorial, Mat went over the preparation and set up for the photoshoot, and how to get the best, most natural images from your models. In this second half, we’ll dive into uploading your images to Adobe Stock, and how to make sure that you have the most relevant keywords so buyers can find your photographs.

With integrations into Lightroom CC and Bridge CC, you can quickly and efficiently upload content to Adobe Stock from directly within the apps as soon as you’ve finished your editing. Mat demonstrates the upload of his selection from the shoot via Lightroom CC and also directly via the Contributor Portal. Select only the best images from a shoot and ensure that each offers something different. Don’t submit multiple copies of the same image with different postproduction effects applied.

Keywording is one of the most important aspects of stock photography. Keywords are how buyers find images, so put yourself in the shoes of a buyer and think about what kind of search terms you’d use to find your photo. If you need a little help, our auto-keywording tool will automatically generate keywords for you. If you’re uploading from Lightroom CC or Bridge CC, you can also embed keywords in the file.

Remember that your keywords must be in order of importance, and cannot contain brand names like ‘iPhone’ or ‘Android’.

If your images feature a recognizable person or place, you will need to attach a model or property release. You can find model and property release templates on our HelpX page or on the Contributor Portal.

In Summary:

The beauty of stock is that once your content has been uploaded, it will continue to generate revenue for you for years and years down the road. Submit your images today and see more images from the photoshoot in Mat’s Adobe Stock portfolio.
