This time next week, we’re hosting our Creative Meet Up, live from London. In what’s set to be an evening packed full of creativity and inspiration, we’ll be showing you the latest game-changing updates to Adobe Creative Cloud, announced at Adobe MAX – The Creativity Conference and you’ll also get the chance to hear from some of the industry’s biggest names including Nick Knight and Kate Moross.
To give you a taste of what’s in store on the night, we caught up with Rufus Deuchler, Senior Worldwide Design Evangelist at Adobe, who’ll be demoing his pick of the latest updates.
Remember, we’ll be live streaming all the action on YouTube and Facebook for those that can’t make it in person, so register to watch the event online here.
Hi Rufus! Tell us about your favourite Creative Cloud innovations from MAX 2017
Adobe MAX was a huge success this year and we used the event as an opportunity to announce our latest innovations for Creative Cloud. I can group these into three key themes:
- Next Generation Experiences: We introduced a range of new Creative Cloud applications that are designed for today’s cloud workflows. We also made major performance improvements and simplified existing workflows in our flagship apps, like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Accelerating your creativity: From learning, live streaming, user assets, marketplace assets, and working solo, to innovative collaboration tools, we are making it easier than ever for users to express themselves by making what they need available when and where they need it.
- Introducing Adobe Sensei: Our artificial intelligence and machine learning platform brings together big data and image science to help creators go from concept to amazing experiences even faster. And with the release, we added more Sensei capabilities across the Creative Cloud experience.
You can read more about the product announcements we made at MAX here.
What are the key benefits of these latest developments for creatives?
We launched major updates to all existing Creative Cloud apps on desktop and mobile for the Creative Cloud Community and marketplace. There is innovation across the board, from design, to video and photography.
There are many benefits to the developments we introduced, but one thing that I’m really excited about – because I’m personally involved with it – is that for the past year, we have been building AdobeLive, our live streaming channel that allows the community to share their creative process with each other. During this time, hundreds of thousands of viewers have engaged for hours of entertainment, learning and inspiration. We launched the channel on Behance at MAX and are increasing the number of hours of streaming, so all our members can benefit from the experience. We are streaming creativity three days a week on be.net/live and my team of Evangelists have been very active broadcasting on Facebook and YouTube. Join us, get inspired, and learn.
Name one tool or feature from the latest release that you consider to be a ‘game changer’ for creatives?
3D has always been a challenge for graphic designers, because it involves a steep learning curve to achieve satisfactory results. So Adobe Dimension is a game changer as it gives graphic designers the power of 3D, with the simplicity of working in 2D. Designers can create photorealistic renderings for packaging, product shots and branding.
Dimension is also tightly integrated with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and has a robust asset marketplace on Adobe Stock to quickly get started. I cannot wait to see what designers around the world will be creating with Dimension.
What are you planning to demo at our UK Creative Meet Up?
I will be reiterating our vision for Adobe Creative Cloud and covering what was launched at MAX just a few weeks ago, as well as demoing some hands-on action with the new apps, such as Adobe XD, Adobe Dimension and Adobe Spark.
For video, we are launching Character Animator that lets you bring 2D puppets to life. And for photography, we’ve launched a brand new Lightroom Cloud Photography service. I have limited time and I will have to make tough choices – I promise to choose wisely, but it will be impossible to show everything!
Adobe is all about inspiring others to unlock their creativity. What is it about working at Adobe that inspires you?
My background is in graphic design. I’ve been with Adobe for over 10 years now – and there’s never been a dull moment. From the launch of InDesign to Creative Suite and then Creative Cloud… it’s been an incredible journey.
Working at Adobe allows me to stay close to my passion in design and work on promoting workflows that I truly feel are valuable for the design community. It’s really the best of both worlds. I love it!
If you could develop a tool for Creative Cloud, what would it be and why?
Working with the development teams is a big part of what I do, as I work on next generation applications and services almost every day. It is very important to keep the focus on bettering the lives of creatives around the world. With live streaming and educational content, I strongly believe that we are making it easier for anyone to express themselves in different ways, from design, to video, to photography. Services around a tool are equally as important as the tool itself to get you going and to allow you to create as quickly as possible.
