Want to make your own? Learn how to design a sticker featuring your own special message with Illustrator.
- Create a new document, then look for the Libraries panel. If you don’t see it, go to Windows > Libraries. Open the dropdown and choose Valentine’s Day Candy Hearts.
- Hold the Option/Alt key, then drag your favorite colored heart from Libraries to your artboard. Make sure to hold down the Option key when you do this because it copies an editable version of the asset to your artboard. When you release the mouse, you’ll see your cursor loaded with the asset. Click and drag to place it.
- To customize the message, choose the Direct Select tool, then double-click on the text. Now you can highlight it and type your own. Extra points for wit. (If you can’t select the text, you probably weren’t holding Option in Step 2.)
- You can stop there, or if you’re really feeling the love, you can customize your design with a Typekit font. With the text still selected, go to the Properties panel, open the Font Family menu, and click “Sync fonts from Typekit” to launch it in your browser. (Or just follow this link.) Use the nifty filters to sync a typeface that fully conveys your romantic feelings. Just kidding; choose one you like! I used Filson Soft, but there are many fonts that feel more romantic, such as these fresh ‘faces from Laura Worthington. Once you sync a typeface, you’ll be able to find it in the Font Family menu and apply it to the text.
That’s it! Now you have a custom sticker design for your sweetheart, your mom, your cat, or yourself.
