Hassle-Free License Compliance

Located in the gently rolling plains of southeast Kansas, Pittsburg State University (PSU) provides a culture of forward-thinking excellence for roughly 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Ready access to technology helps support the university’s commitment to learning and innovation.

PSU recently made it easier for faculty and staff to use Adobe Creative Cloud for enterprise apps by switching from Serial Licensing to Named User Licensing. Instead of managing licenses by serial numbers on individual devices, IT Services at PSU automatically provisions software according to email addresses in the university’s Microsoft Active Directory.

“At first, we were worried that implementing Named User Licensing would be very complicated and resource intense,” says Timothy Pearson, assistant director, information technology services at Pittsburg State University. “It was easier than we ever imagined. After briefly engaging with Adobe Onboarding Assistance and Expert Services and receiving links to the thorough documentation, we set up the Named User Licensing integration for Adobe Creative Cloud in just 3.5 hours.”

Adobe Creative Cloud users now obtain Adobe Creative Cloud apps and services without requiring IT Services assistance. Furthermore, faculty and staff gain the flexibility to use apps on any device, including personal mobile devices.

The IT Services team benefits from simplified license management. Because licenses are tied directly to email addresses, the system automatically provisions them according to each user’s group membership. This not only reduces time spent monitoring and distributing licenses, but helps PSU maintain licensing compliance.
