Inspiring Student Opportunities

Green Mountain Technology & Career Center (GMTCC), a high school in northern Vermont, is taking an exciting approach to preparing its students for future education and in-demand careers in digital fields. Through its Creative Media Art & Design program, students explore and experiment with a variety of creative disciplines, including graphic design, illustration, photography, animation, and filmmaking. GMTCC students learn everything from basic concepts to advanced skills using integrated Creative Cloud apps.

“Understanding the integration between Adobe Creative Cloud apps is key for students,” says Matt Neckers, Teacher, Creative Media Art & Design, Green Mountain Technology & Career Center. “Students need to learn what each app does best and use the integration between Adobe apps to work with the best tools for each situation. Adobe uses intuitive interfaces that allow students to quickly grasp how to expand on their knowledge and use new Adobe solutions.”

In recent years, GMTCC students have earned numerous honors for work they’ve created using Adobe Creative Cloud apps. For example, the Vermont PBS station selected a 2017 student documentary, Made in Vermont, to air on its channel. GMTCC swept the Advertising Design category in the 2016 SkillsUSA Contest, with the winner moving on to the national championship. GMTCC student Natalie Reed won first place in the 2015 Congressional Art Show, and her painting “Chicken Scratch” was on public display at the U.S. Capitol.

GMTCC purchased and deployed Adobe Creative Cloud to teachers and students under the Value Incentive Plan (VIP), which gives the school a cost-effective licensing option for equipping faculty and lab computers with Adobe Creative Cloud. The school can also work with VIP to obtain personal licenses for students to work on at home as an added benefit.
