Spring is almost here, and with warmer temperatures comes a new release of Illustrator CC. Do you use Illustrator on a high-resolution screen and wished you could adjust your anchor points, bounding boxes, or handles? Do you frequently edit PDFs in Illustrator and wish there was a quicker way to edit multiple pages? Have you been waiting to data merge with Illustrator CC? Well, wait no more. Here’s what the latest release of Illustrator CC will include:
Increase the display size of anchor points, handles, and bounding box controls
You can now increase the display size of anchor points, handles, and bounding boxes. This feature is particularly helpful if you use Illustrator on high-resolution screens, which can make those anchor points, handles, and bounding box appear smaller. Even if you don’t have a high-resolution screen, being able to adjust the size of your anchor points, handles, and bounding boxes is a convenient option. Learn about anchor point display.
Conveniently import multi-page PDFs
You can now import and edit any multi-page PDF as separate artboards. Select a single page, range of pages, or all pages of the PDF to open.
This is especially useful for designers who make frequent edits to PDF documents in Illustrator. For designers who gather elements from PDF style guides or brand books, this is also helpful. You no longer have to import PDF content one page at a time, saving you time. Learn about importing PDFs.
Data merge with CSV files
Illustrator CC already lets you data merge to create multiple variants of designs with different text or even graphics, through the Variables Panel (located under Windows > Variables). The only limitation was that the feature only lets you use an XML file for data merge. Now, you can conveniently data merge with CSV files.
If this is the first time you’ve heard about data merge in Illustrator CC, you’re missing out. Learn more about data merge.
Dropbox Smart Sync Enhancement
Lastly, if you use Dropbox Smart Sync, we’ve made an improvement to let users browse files in Dropbox without automatically downloading the entire file.
As always with every release of Illustrator CC, we fix bugs and improve the stability of the app. If you have something you’d like to see in the next release, please don’t hesitate to tell us on the Illustrator User Voice page. The user voice page is also a great place to stay up to date on the bugs we are fixing or have fixed.
