All About Profiles: How Profiles Work and Making Your Own

Our release of the massively updated Profiles feature in April across Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom CC created tons of discussions and lots of questions about how they work and how to create profiles. Below you can find text and links that we believe can help answer your questions and get you up and building your own custom profiles in no time!

How profiles work

I recently had a chance to sit down and talk to Photoshop creator Thomas Knoll and his ACR teammates Eric Chan and Max Wendt and create a detailed write-up on the profiles that explains the nuances between each of the different new Adobe Raw profiles. How to make your own profiles

If you’re curious how to make your own profiles, I’ve recorded a video that shows you how to use the functionality built into Adobe Camera Raw to build profiles that can be used within Adobe Camera Raw 10.3, Lightroom Classic 7.3, and Lightroom CC 1.3. Keep in mind that creating a profile is rather complex, includes many steps, and should be considered rather advanced: proceed with caution 🙂

Bug fixes in Lightroom Classic CC for presets and profiles

Today we also released an update to Lightroom Classic, version 7.3.1, that fixes a number of issues that were reported to us. We heard your feedback and felt that parts of the release didn’t uphold the level of quality that we hold ourselves to. We’re happy to report that these issues were resolved and now available for immediate download. Some of the issues resolved included converting presets, sorting and copying/pasting profiles, translation errors, along with crash fixes.
