Adobe Brings Leading Commerce Platform Magento to Experience Cloud
I am excited to share some big news – today, Adobe announced that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Magento Commerce,**__ **a market-leading platform for open commerce innovation.
Adobe’s vision has been focused on one fundamental truth: People Buy Experiences, Not Products. At the core of every great experience are content and data, which enable the consistent, personal, intuitive experiences consumers have come to expect. Like content and data, commerce has become integral to the customer experience. Consumers and businesses now expect every interaction to be shoppable – whether on the web, mobile, social, in-product or in-store. This is the future of commerce – Experience-driven commerce.
Combined with Adobe Experience Cloud, the Magento Commerce Cloud will bring digital commerce, order management and business intelligence to enable both B2B and B2C shopping experiences across the customer journey. Founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California, the Magento Platform is built on proven, open source technology and has a vibrant community of more than 300,000 developers and pre-built extensions which include payment, shipping, tax and logistics. This agility allows businesses to quickly ramp and iterate their commerce capabilities for different scenarios in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Adobe and Magento share a list of joint customers that will benefit from the addition of Magento to Adobe Experience Cloud, including Coca-Cola, Warner Music Group, Nestle and Cathay Pacific. Magento’s current list of customers includes a wide variety of brands across industries such as consumer packaged goods, retail, wholesale, manufacturing and the public sector, including, Canon, Helly Hansen, Paul Smith, and Rosetta Stone.
While integrating Magento into the Experience Cloud will give Adobe its own native commerce capabilities, Adobe remains committed to our existing Commerce Program and supporting its partners. We’re excited to welcome Magento’s 800 technology partners and 350 systems integrators to the Adobe ecosystem.
Magento CEO, Mark Lavelle, will continue to lead the Magento team as part of Adobe’s Digital Experience business, reporting to me.
The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Until the transaction closes, each company will continue to operate independently, and once the deal closes, we’ll be able to share more details about the integration plans and service offerings
The addition of Magento further demonstrates our commitment to enhancing our industry-leading platform and solutions and will further strengthen our ability to deliver our vision for the enterprise – to empower customers across the globe to become Experience Businesses.
