Adobe at #OFFF18: Looking back at 3 days full of creativity & inspiration
AT OFFF 2018 in Barcelona, Europe’s largest creative conference, we experienced a three-day celebration of creativity, inspiration and artistic innovation together with our creative guests – a range of talents from Illustrators and Futurists to Photographers and Experience Designers. We explored the streets of Barcelona, created fantastic artworks as well as funny socks and travel kits, listened to inspiring speeches and workshops and discussed what it’s like to be creative in today’s global world. Also, we let the world take a sneak peek at what the future holds for Adobe XD and Adobe Illustrator – check it out on YouTube!
One of the many highlights for us at OFFF was the Adobe Stock panel discussion (live streamed) around the evolution of visual culture and the powerful trend of multilocalism: with travel and technology making the wold ever-smaller, artists and brands are embracing a mosaic of cultural experiences in their images as they try to integrate the deepening global consciousness of both themselves and consumers.
The engaging panel discussion featured the Experience Designer, Dr Nelly Ben Hayoun, who lit up the room with her inter-culture-interspace stream of consciousness, the inspiring multicultural experiences of the Photographer Tobi Shinobi, the powerful illustrations of Perci Chen and Mariana Rodrigues, and Alek Szmytko’s personal touch, drawing from his relationship with, and perceptions of, his cross-national relationships. Futurist Rudy de Waele concluded the panel discussion with a fascinating glimpse into the future, to a time when multilocalism may exist in cyberspace and where online-entities reflect a collage of communties. Check out the recording of the discussion below.
To further articulate this theme we sent our creative guests onto the streets of Barcelona to define _multilocalism _by creating multicultural artworks incorporating their individual styles and personal impressions from their walks around the city.

After a few intensive hours they came up with four amazing artworks in the themes of Barcelona Street, Lifestyle, Beach and Architecture, you can find them here.
Meanwhile at OFFF, situated at the foot of the famous Torre Glòrie, the venue was packed with over 5000 young creatives from all over the world and at least one baby. Celebrated art director James Victore got the crowd signing along to ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince, before declaring “Don’t come to OFFF and stay the same, leave OFFF changed!” “And remember work without inspiration is nothing, and inspiration without work is nothing too! Get out there!” We couldn’t agree more!
And in the spirit of inspiration, the artist Musketon created a really cool mural at OFFF reflecting the talking points of the day.
Our Adobe Experience Lounge hosted workshops with top artists such as Robzilla, Kyle T.Webster, Perci Chen, Michael Schauer and Marianna Tomaselli and gave creatives the chance to have their portfolios reviewed by leading OFFF speakers during the Adobe Live streaming from OFFF. I was live this morning from Barcelona @offfest on FB with @adobestock talking about what “Multilocalism” means to me & how our connection to other places and people impacts visual culture. I talked about Japan, my relationship with it and how it impacts my work. Had great fun sharing my experience and learning more about my fellow panelists. The panel discussed the future of the global village and wondered what it is to feel local and asked whether art needs a sense of place. To check out what went down – did the stage erupt? Did the panellists cause a shift in tectonic plates? Did they blast someone to space? You can find out via youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJqWQ6VKaTo . Thank you for having us @offfest!
