Adobe Completes Acquisition of Magento Commerce

Few things get me more excited than adding great technology and exceptional talent to the Adobe family, so I’m delighted to announce that today marks the official close of Adobe’s acquisition of Magento, a market-leading platform for open commerce innovation. Magento brings together digital commerce, order management and predictive intelligence to enable shopping experiences that scale from small to enterprise businesses.

Adobe is the leader in designing and delivering digital experiences through content and data. At the core of every great experience are content and data, which enable the consistent, personal, intuitive experiences consumers have come to expect. Commerce is also integral to the customer experience—whether on the web, mobile, social, in-product or in-store. Integrating commerce into Adobe Experience Cloud enables Adobe to make every moment personal and every experience shoppable. This is the future of commerce —Experience-driven commerce.

The Magento Commerce Cloud brings powerful new technology and agility to Adobe Experience Cloud, delivering a single, end-to-end platform for content creation, marketing, advertising, analytics, commerce, order management and business intelligence for B2B and B2C customers—all powered by real-time data and actionable insights that allow brands to connect with customers in the moments that matter.

At Adobe, we are committed to the stewardship of open platforms and diverse developer communities. From our recently launched Adobe Cloud Platform—which has been purpose-built to be the Experience System of Record for Enterprises—to our decades-long investments in and commitment to the Apache Software Foundation, Adobe has fostered a passion for open and collaborative development.

The closing of the Magento acquisition also underscores our commitment to open-source technologies and the critical role that a robust global community of partners and developers plays in driving innovation. With more than 300,000 developers, 800 technology partners, and 350 system integration partners, Magento brings the power, innovation and collaboration of its community to the Adobe Cloud Platform. Together, we’ll deepen our undertaking of open, developer-driven experiences. We couldn’t be more excited about the limitless possibilities.

Magento Commerce Cloud will continue to be available as an offering within Adobe Experience Cloud. With the acquisition now closed, Magento CEO Mark Lavelle will continue to lead the Magento team as part of Adobe’s Digital Experience business, as a part of my team. I look forward to working with Mark to drive this business forward.

Now—more than ever—Adobe is strategically positioned to deliver contextualized commerce experiences that will help each of our customers make experience their business.
