A new breed of CIO is heavily focused on improving customer experiences and wants to improve lines of communication with marketing accordingly, but they also need some time while they deal with transitioning legacy infrastructure.

Those are just some of the top-level findings CMOs need to understand about their C-suite colleagues, with whom collaboration is only going to grow in importance, according to the “2018 Digital Trends In IT” report of nearly 400 senior IT executives.

“The IT department continues to be at the forefront of initiatives by companies to put customers at the heart of their operations, with the need for an integrated experience increasingly being seen as an essential commercial requirement,” said Cynthia Stoddard, CIO at Adobe (CMO.com’s parent company), which partnered with Econsultancy for the report.
