Are you considering a preconference workshop at MAX this year? You should be! Take a look at Christian Clayton’s new workshop, created just for MAX attendees, Channeling Your Inner Picasso — Sculpting with Everyday Materials. All materials will be provided — just come with an open mind, and Christian will show you how to unleash the potential of the everyday object. You’ll use cardboard, paper, fabric, glue, string, and paint to create your own one-of-a-kind sculpture.
Christian is an artist, painter, image-maker, storyteller, and teacher who works primarily in mixed media. In 2016, Christian received a 20-year service award from The Art Center College of Design, and, in 2015, he was awarded The Great Teacher Award from the Art Center College of Design student body. His teaching credentials also include Cal State University, Northridge, and Otis College of Design. He’s one of the top mixed media art teachers in the nation, and this is a unique opportunity to work with him directly. Christian works with people of all ages and skills, and can help you reignite the passion for art and creativity that you had as a kid.
The goal in this preconference is to take a break from technology and get hands-on. Inspired by Picasso’s cardboard sculpture experiments, you’ll be challenged to build, make, and do — moving beyond the screen to work another side of your brain and explore the abstract and the physical. Think of this workshop as the space to stretch your dormant creative muscles, and delve into artistic avenues you never thought to try.
Attendees of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to join — no prerequisites here, just a love of creating and exploring to find the unexpected and unpredictable.
