Import and Export Entire Libraries in a Couple of Clicks

New feature in Creative Cloud Libraries saves you even more time.

In our last post, we shared three ways Creative Cloud Libraries (CC Libraries) make your life easier — as a brand library, a project library, and a custom library of your go-to design assets. In each scenario, it would be great if you could just make a copy of the library when you need to.

Well, we’re all about making life easier for creatives. So with our newest feature, you can export entire libraries and import them into new libraries (retaining linkage of elements from the original) — essentially making a copy. You can also see the size to help you gauge the export/import load.

If you’re up and running in CC Libraries, then you’re already enjoying some sweet time hacks — a benchmark analysis by Pfeiffer Research showed significant productivity gains in common tasks. Here are three ways our new export/import feature can save you even more time:

  1. Clone it: Most businesses have a seasonal marketing cycle with annual, semiannual, or quarterly promotions. Retailers, for instance, need to produce a wide range of creative assets to support each season — the summer swimsuit collection, back to school, the annual holiday barrage. Creating a CC library for one seasonal promotion can save a lot of time when the next season rolls around.
  2. When it’s time for a new campaign, just archive your previous library of assets by exporting it to a local machine, storing it in the appropriate location, and removing it from your CC Libraries panel. Then import that same library back into your CC Libraries panel as a copy, rename it, and hit the ground running, modifying the designs you built last time without starting from scratch.
  3. Pass the baton: Team reorgs, promotions, and new jobs happen. If you own any libraries and your role suddenly changes or you leave your job, you can easily export those libraries, and store the files in a central location (such as SharePoint or your company server). That way, whoever replaces you can import the libraries into their CC Libraries panel and become the new “owner,” and everything you’ve created can be referenced or reused across the business in the future.
  4. Upgrade with ease: If you or a colleague gets upgraded to a more premium plan such as Creative Cloud for Enterprise, that’s awesome. With the new export/import workflow, you can simply export all libraries you owned under your previous subscription and import them under your new subscription.

CC Libraries, now in Bridge

FYI, the CC Libraries panel is now in Bridge. If you’re a Bridge user, you can create and access your libraries right there. If you have assets organized in folders within Bridge, you can easily browse, open, and select all of the relevant items you’d like to add to a library. Just drag and drop the selected assets into a new or existing library in your CC Libraries panel.
