Re-imagined RoboHelp 2019
With this release of RoboHelp, we have moved to a modern re-imagined user interface which is minimalistic, simple yet powerful. With RoboHelp 2019 release, you will be able to deliver exceptional Help, policy and knowledge-base content. Experience full support of HTML5 and CSS3 during authoring and leverage the power of the new skin editor for generating exceptional content for your customers. Leverage search enhancements, personalization with Dynamic Content Filtering (DCF).
With this blog post, we will try and cover the major highlights but a lot of improvements have gone in the release and we will continue to share more details via blog posts.
Re-imagined content creation
The first thing you would notice in RoboHelp 2019 is the simple user interface. No more ribbons/workspaces! Everything is present in a single pane. Upgrade your existing RoboHelp projects super fast and generate your output faster than ever before. With support for HTML5 and CSS3 during authoring, you can now leverage:
- Scalable Vector graphics (SVG) images
- Modern WebP image files
- Support for adding videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- Easily add web fonts such as FontAwesome or Adobe Typekit fonts, to name a few
Your content. Organized.
Another major change is around project structure and how the content is organized on the disk. When you upgrade the project, it converts the existing RoboHelp project into the new folder and file structure which is much cleaner and organized – in your project view as well as on the disk. And even if you move around files on the disk that change would be reflected in the project structure.
We have simplified quite a lot of things. For example, the output is now Table of Content (TOC) based. Whatever is part of the TOC goes into the output rather than the whole project. Create groups to visualize how Dynamic Content Filters would look in output. You can even add a Snippet within a Snippet.
The Welcome Screen has gone through a major revamp as well. Find resources on how to start working with new Adobe RoboHelp 2019 release in the new Learning section.
That’s not it. As you author the relevant text/image/video/table properties come on the right-hand side of the same window and as you make changes you would see the change live in the authoring window.
Easily switch between views (author/code/preview) mode with a click of a button or add conditions on content with more control on HEX or RGB colors as the case may be.
A powerful XML Source Code Editor
RoboHelp (2019 release) comes with a powerful XML Source Code Editor with Syntax Highlightning, live code validation, pretty printing, and code completion. If you like or need to work in the source code view, you will love the editor.
Importing Microsoft Word files
We have also upgraded the process for Word Import which is now a simpler user experience with option to discard styles as well as only showing the styles which are actually being used in the document rather than all the styles which are part of the document.
Any device, format or platform. Discover limitless publishing.
Leverage the new publishing engine which is blazingly fast for generating your favorite output formats such as Responsive HTML5, Mobile Apps, WebHelp, etc. Within the output settings, there is an all-new Skin Editor which gives a live preview of how the output would look across Mobile/Tablet/Desktop as you make changes in the skin.
The search engine within the output moves to a new algorithm which gives better search result which are more contextual and much faster. Leverage auto-complete and fuzzy search features to enhance customer experience.
Support for SharePoint and GIT
With RoboHelp 2019 release, we have added support for both Microsoft SharePoint Online and GIT source controls. Empower team members with the ability to collaborate on projects of any size with speed and efficiency.
As you start trying out the new RoboHelp 2019 release, you would realize that all features have been redone and it may require some learning to get used how things work with new RoboHelp 2019 release. Keeping the same in mind, with RoboHelp 2019 release, we are also packaging RoboHelp 2019 Classic which is the same RoboHelp which was shipped with 2017 release with various fixes that have been made during updates. This way you can gradually make the shift towards doing this in RoboHelp 2019. We are open to feedback, comments and further areas of improvement so as you move to the new platform, keep sharing the same with us. We would continue to update the Adobe Technical Communication blog as we deliver updates.
