So you’ve downloaded Lightroom CC and you’re ready to give it a shot. We’ve got 5 tips to help you test-drive Lightroom CC to see if it’s right for you:

1. Understand how Lightroom CC functions differently from Lightroom Classic.
   A key difference lies in storage. Lightroom CC stores your photos in the cloud, while Lightroom Classic backs up photos on your hard drive, or an external drive. Lightroom CC also:

• • Stores your actual full-res files in the cloud. They will be available for editing across all your devices.
  • Maintains a consistent, seamless workflow regardless of the device you’re using.

2. Backup your photos.
   Turn on Mobile Sync in Lightroom Classic so that your new photos are synced back to your Lightroom Classic library. Before testing Lightroom CC, however, you should schedule a backup for your existing photos, including backing up your database of edits and organization (known as your Lightroom catalog). Note: Backups executed from Lightroom Classic include only the catalog file. You must independently back up your edited photos and anything exported from Lightroom Classic. Learn more.
3. Start simple.
   Identify 50-100 unedited photos that you would like to use for this test drive. Why 50-100? This volume of photos will ensure you have a manageable library of images to work with. If you only import a few photos, you won’t be able to check out Lightroom CC’s broad range of editing and organizational features, such as keyword search. However, if you import too many, your test-drive process could take a long time depending on the bandwidth of your internet connection. Note: Once your images or catalog become migrated, your images automatically sync to the cloud.
4. Steps to import into Lightroom CC.
   Adding photos to Lightroom CC involves a few simple steps. (Tip: When testing out Lightroom CC, don’t migrate your complete Lightroom Classic catalog at this point.) For now, just test out your 50-100 photos in Lightroom CC. You can select a few sample photos first from your hard drive, and then you can preview your photos before importing. You can also decide if you want to add your photos into an existing or new album. When you import, they will be full-resolution and stored in the cloud. 5. Export and share a photo.
