Enter the Spider-Verse at Adobe MAX
We’re teaming up with Sony Pictures Animation and the team behind the new animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” to unleash the creative power of Spidey fans everywhere.
Fans of the webbed superhero know Spider-Man by many names. And now the man behind the mask is none other than Miles Morales, the fresh-faced, crime-fighting young hero destined to carry on the superhero’s legacy. At Adobe, we see Spider-Man as bigger than just one man or woman. Join us as we venture into a world where more than one person can wear the mask of Spider-Man. Welcome to the Spider-Verse.
At Adobe MAX, Scott Belsky — Adobe’s chief product officer – will kick off our journey into Spidey’s unbounded universe in our keynote, showcasing how the all-star production team behind “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” developed beautifully immersive visuals, merging the 2D-printed graphic style of comic books with 3D animation. Then, in an unforgettable panel session, the film’s art directors and designers will share how they created a first-of-its-kind animation style to debut Miles’s journey as Spider-Man on the big screen.
The animators developed a distinct visual collage of 2D illustrations, 3D animations, and classic comic book elements — such as halftone patterns, chromatic aberrations, and sharp shadows — previously unseen in feature-length animation. Relying on Photoshop CC’s innate flexibility, the filmmakers experimented with layers, effects, and styles to craft their desired look. The team also created a set of custom brushes to ensure a consistency of vision, even with multiple artists working on different scenes. Check out a behind-the-scenes peek with the creative team to see how they brought the pages of the comic book to life with the help of Photoshop CC and other Creative Cloud products.
Adobe MAX attendees will have the chance to swing through New York City skyscrapers and dodge bad guys with ease at our Wall-Crawler activation, where you can grab a social media-worthy shot of you in crime-fighting mode. A fear of heights won’t stop you from being a superhero, thanks to the visual illusion created by a custom-built mylar wall.
Not at MAX this year? You too will have the chance to enter the world of Spider-Man. Beginning at MAX and extending through the film’s debut in December, we’ll roll out a series of immersive activations and social media contests that put the creative power in the web-slinging hands of the broader community.
At Adobe, creativity guides everything we do. We venture to find new ways to express it, new ways to inspire it, and new ways for our customers to share their creations with the world. Come with us as we jump into the Spider-Verse! “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” will be in theaters starting on December 14, 2018.
