Let Capture’s asset creation tools transform your workflow, by letting you collect beautiful professional designs from the world around you.

Design and creativity shouldn’t be locked onto the desktop. With Adobe Capture, you can turn the world around you into beautiful professional assets to use in your artistic work across Adobe applications.

Capture is a powerful mobile asset creation studio, and in the latest release we’ve included some new tools to help you get the most out of it. Improved performance, as well as a full UI overhaul, means there’s less standing in the way between you and your perfect asset collection.

Compose, click, create

The camera is the biggest change you will find. No longer do you need to return to the gallery to switch asset types. Modules are now combined in the camera for ease and execution. Simply swipe the carousel left and right to find what type of asset you want to make.

We’ve also refined the save experience to help you keep creating without breaking your flow. With Quick Save on, press save and your assets are automatically synced to the Creative Cloud Library you are currently in. Switch the library you save to in the Gallery view. This allows you to bulk create assets and manage naming or other tasks later, either in the Capture Gallery or on the Creative Cloud Libraries web page. To turn off Quick Save and name your assets individually as you create them, simply tap Preferences and toggle the switch off next to “Enable Quick Save.”

Speaking of the gallery, you now have a combined asset tab, which allows you to view all asset types living in a library together at once. See how your assets look next to each other, and view asset collections in all their glory.

Photo adjustments

In a perfect world, you can always snap a great pic with no effort. But for those times when you need a little extra help, we’ve added photo adjustment tools in iOS to give you more control over what you are creating.

Generate more accurate color palettes. Perhaps the light isn’t pure enough to truly catch the shades in front of you. Or maybe you found your perfect colors, and your art director asked you to make it pop. Adding a touch of saturation or adjusting the hue to fix white balance will lend accuracy to what the camera sees. Or let serendipity give you inspiration by combining effects to see where you go!

Hue can also be a powerful tool to let you collect varied asset sets quickly and easily from one source. Create a complete set of brushes from only one item, or a set of matching patterns in different shades.

The ability to collect 3D materials straight from your phone is almost magical, but occasionally the camera makes choices you would rather override. You can control all parts of your exposure including exposure, hue, and contrast. This allows more ability to bring out details or better reflect reality when lighting conditions are subpar. Take your materials even further by blending the edges to make repeating tileable textures. Bring your materials into Adobe Dimension and unlock new levels of creativity.

Manipulating contrast can make or break a good exposure. Whether it’s adding more to bring out underexposed detail or taking away contrast to make things more cohesive, this will augment all your captures, but patterns most of all. Too often when I am collecting patterns, I find the perfect composition but the pattern contains too much contrast to lay text or elements over. Being able to bring contrast down, to allow for more contrast with the elements I plan on using it with, makes my pattern collection so much more versatile. I have started collecting low-contrast versions of almost every pattern I create.

Effects

We didn’t just add refinement tools however, we also packed in a set of creative expression effects. The fast pace of today’s design world means that professionals are doing more cross-disciplinary work on more surfaces. Rapid creation of unique, versatile assets is essential for most workflows, as well as to drive inspiration.

Make your patterns even more versatile, such as by using the line effect to produce illustrative designs. This creates unique textures that appear both organic and elegant. Another common issue with patterns is the detail fighting with the elements you place over them. Applying the blur effect tones down the pattern makes it blend more cohesively with your designs.

Shapes also work well with effects, allowing you more variety or ways to improve on the sources you are working with. In this day and age, it can be hard to achieve a cohesive look on social platforms or print mediums. Using capture effects on your images can change the look and feel to something that more easily integrates into your designs. Mimic digitized effects with Pixellate and Point. Combine effects to bring out even more detail or to create abstract assets and styling.
