What’s new and better

The primary focus for Update 4 was towards fixing bugs and issues which have been reported by users. We have also added a new feature for users using Adobe Experience Manager with FrameMaker.

Automatically check out files on saving or opening in Adobe Experience Manager

We have added a new option in the in Adobe Experience Manager CMS Connector preferences. Now you can choose to check out files on opening or saving automatically. To Enable auto-checkout, choose Edit → Preferences, and select CMS → Adobe Experience Manager in the Preferences dialog.

Added a new flag to control image scaling in a table cell

Many users have asked us to implement a feature that allows you to control if an image is scaled down to the cell/column width when importing it into a table cell. Or always import the image at 100% size into the table cell, even if it does not fit into the cell. With Update 4, we have added this possibility. You can now add a new flag in the user’s maker.ini to control this value.

How to control in FrameMaker if an image is scaled or not during import into a table cell:

  1. If you have FrameMaker open, close it.
  2. Open the FrameMaker User folder:
  3. C:\Users\{Your Windows User Name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\15
  4. Alternatively, you can copy and paste this address into the Windows Explorer address bar and hit Return:
  5. %appadata%\Adobe\FrameMaker\15
  6. Open the file maker.ini in a plain text editor like Windows Notepad.
  7. Go to the section [Preference].
  8. Add a new line at the end of the [Preference] section:
  9. AutoScaleImageInTableCell=On – When importing an image into a table cell, FrameMaker scales down the image, if the width of the image is wider than the table cells width.
  10. AutoScaleImageInTableCell=Off – When importing an image into a table cell, the image is never scaled and imported at 100%, even if it does not fit into the table cell. If the image does not fit, parts of the image become invisible. You can scale down the image manually to the required size.
