Adobe Employees Embrace Black History Month

February marks the observance of Black History Month in the United States, a celebration of achievements from Black people throughout history and their ongoing contributions. This year, Adobe is celebrating Black History Month with the theme L.I.T.: Lift up Black voices, businesses, and leaders; Inspire employees to get involved in their communities; and Transform the Black community’s representation in technology. Adobe and the Black Employee Network (BEN) are sponsoring events and activities across sites including dance classes, film screenings, performances, cultural cuisine, and more!

To kick off this celebration, we’re showcasing employees’ recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will continue to share employee achievements and activities throughout the month.

Employees Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On January 20, Adobe employees, friends, and family members participated in a special day of service to honor Dr. King for his leadership in advancing civil rights. BEN helped organize a march in San Francisco and volunteering opportunities across multiple sites.

Bay Area employees came together to march the streets of San Francisco with hundreds of others. Employees also partnered with the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) for their annual MLK Day program, when they open their doors to the community free of charge. With our generous volunteer Matching Grant program, we made a monetary donation to MoAD. See what employees said about their experience and view more photos on this Spark page.

In Portland, our Black Employee Network and Action Team partnered with the The Red Cross to install smoke detectors in vulnerable homes. Adobe volunteers, along with other Red Cross volunteers, installed 98 smoke detectors in 24 hours across the region.

We’d like to thank our employees who embraced Dr. King’s legacy by serving their communities, practicing tolerance, seeking justice, and fostering a culture that embraces all perspectives and backgrounds.
