A full circle moment with Evan Lewis, creative cloud iOS engineer

Straight off the news of being named onto Fortune Magazine’s list of Best Workplaces in New York, today we’re highlighting one of our employees who’s based in our Union Square office. Here’s what Evan Lewis, Creative Cloud iOS Engineer for Behance, had to share about his full circle moment with Adobe.

As a kid, I saved up to buy an iPod Touch right around the time the App Store had been released. I was downloading all kinds of different apps and games and wanted to know how I could make one for myself. I literally googled ‘how to build an app’ and went from there. Eventually, I went on to study computer science, but many of my professors weren’t interested in apps; some thought they were gimmicky. I kept building apps on my own time while pursuing my interests in graphic design and photography.

Fast forward a few years, and now I’m an iOS engineer for Behance. I’m writing code and working on the creative side at the same time, which I didn’t think I would ever be able to do. Working on the Behance iPhone app has shown me so much creativity around the world. Every time I’m running tests, I see the work of these amazing artists and creators. When I was in college, I would post my designs to Behance and now I’m helping build this platform to enable other people to share their work.

Now, we’re working on adding live streaming so creatives can show their audiences how they make their work. When I was young, I would watch this one artist on Twitch and she would open Photoshop and just start drawing. Now Adobe is working to create a space specifically for creatives and I’m thrilled to be a part of the process.
