In recent years, government agencies have taken important steps to modernize their IT systems, delivering citizen, partner, and employee experiences similar to the private sector. The bi-partisan 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (21st Century IDEA) set a bold vision for these efforts with goals for delivering citizen-friendly experiences online, saving time and resources by streamlining agency processes, as well as saving taxpayer dollars.

It’s a vision that aligns with why we invented PDF nearly 30 years ago. Since then, we’ve delivered continuous innovation, reinventing digital documents and online experiences to help people get work done. To assist government agencies in delivering on the vision of the 21st Century IDEA, today Adobe is announcing our intent to pursue FedRAMP Moderate status for Adobe Sign.

With seven authorized cloud services in the FedRAMP Marketplace, plus integrations with the systems governments use every day, we are a trusted partner helping agencies deliver a wide range of services that prioritize security, privacy, trust, and scalability. Adobe Sign is currently authorized as FedRAMP Tailored, and with this new authorization level, it will be possible for agencies to extend e-signatures to processes that include the collection of personal information.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated government efforts to digitally transform operations across federal, state and local levels. As shelter-in-place orders shut down government offices, agencies are turning to cloud software to quickly equip remote workers and bring constituent services online, ensuring business continuity. Earlier this year, the Federal Office of Management & Budget (OMB) issued a memo encouraging agencies to “use the breadth of available technology capabilities to fulfill service gaps and deliver mission outcomes,” including directives on leveraging “digital forms and electronic signatures to the fullest extent practicable.”

Numerous agencies, including the U.S. Census, the State of Utah, and the City of Seattle rely on Adobe solutions to help them deliver accessible, all-digital constituent, and employee experiences. For instance, when a large federal agency had to close more than 1,500 field offices and critical forms could no longer be completed in person, they kept citizen health insurance enrollment running with online forms that were up and running within a week. Similarly, The Iowa Economic Development Authority stood up a new small business relief application form in less than 2 days, collecting signatures from business owners electronically, and delivering $52 Million in financial relief in 3 weeks. We’ve also established initiatives to help governments adapt including a Government Rapid Response program to assist them with maintaining stability and continuity for their employees and constituents.

We know that technology can play a critical role by helping agencies enable remote work and deliver mission outcomes without sacrificing productivity or collaboration. We’re here to help agencies create digital experiences and services that help their partners, citizens, and employees get up and running quickly.
