Advancing inclusive imagery with the Artist Development Fund and partners
Over the last year, we have taken some big steps towards building a truly inclusive stock collection that more accurately reflects the diversity of the real world. Through a variety of programs and partnerships, we’re sourcing and making more accessible imagery that represents a wide range of people from differing backgrounds, skin tones, body types, ages, abilities, and more.
According to Adobe’s State of Creativity survey, 89 percent of creatives want more diverse and inclusive imagery, and 91 percent of those surveyed agreed that the events of 2020 inspired their teams to incorporate real-world issues into their creative work.
At MAX 2020, we launched the Adobe Stock Advocates program, an initiative from Adobe Stock focused on championing self-identifying artists and content from underrepresented communities. With the program, we have invested $500,000 into the Artist Development Fund. This funding helps those artists offset costs that often become barriers, such as paying models, renting spaces, and covering equipment costs. To date, we have introduced three groups of recipients selected for the Artist Development Fund and their content is exclusive to Adobe Stock. Applications are still open. Videographers, photographers, and illustrators that identify with and depict underrepresented and diverse communities are encouraged to apply for free.
In addition to this unique new content, Adobe Stock is furthering diverse representation in stock imagery with key partners such as our new co-exclusive partner Cultura, which is projected to become one of Stock’s largest contributors of Stock created completely by BIPOC-identified artists. Cultura’s mission is to expand visual representation of people of color through stock photography, something we are proud to support.

Meanwhile, the Creative Empowerment Program, a 2020-2021 joint initiative with Adobe Stock and the co-founders of Diversity Photos, is designed to provide artists of color with the tools they need to overcome barriers to commercial success in the stock industry. Co-exclusive to Adobe Stock and available in our Premium collection, imagery from this program seeks to tell powerful stories by depicting models from diverse communities in authentic, relatable scenes.

Fighting misinformation with the Content Authenticity Initiative
Two years after introducing the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), we’re thrilled to share that starting today, we’re making our new way to provide digital provenance with Content Credentials, available to the millions of people who use Photoshop, Stock, and Behance. This means that we’re launching several extensions and integrations built to make content attribution easier for creators, and content authenticity more transparent for consumers.
We’re introducing CAI functionality within the Adobe Stock experience to make attribution easier for creators, and to increase transparency of content history for viewers. Content featured in Stock will now automatically attach Content Credentials when an image is downloaded by a user.
