As someone born and raised in India, I take a lot of pride in India’s rich cultural and creative heritage. From adorned sarees and the craftsmanship of the karigars to the grandeur and beauty of the sculptures and monuments across the country, India is a country full of creativity, culture and vibrancy. This is the place where I learned both the power of creativity and the importance of education.

Having just celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day on August 15, I’ve been contemplating just how much progress and innovation has come out of the country. I’m most excited about the digital transformation taking place in India, in particular the focus the Indian government is putting on the acceleration of digital literacy and creativity skills in educational institutions, which are becoming imperative for student success and employability across many industries.

I have also always associated creative expression as the path to building self-worth and confidence; and deeply respect the next generation, who are motivated by wanting to have an impact in the world be it on social justice matters, climate change or mental health.

This is why I’m thrilled to share Adobe’s new partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) set to empower more than 75,000 educators across 10,000 Indian higher education institutions with access to Adobe Express over the next two years. Through this partnership, Adobe will offer courses and expertise for upskilling educators, and integrate digital creativity into curricula to better prepare students with the essential creative and digital literacy skills needed to thrive in today’s digital-first world.

We are living in a time where content, creativity and design have never been more valued. The World Economic Forum predicts creativity will be among the top 10 skills in demand by 2025 — and LinkedIn has consistently ranked creativity as the #1 most in-demand skill. Regardless of the career a student might choose, creative expression and creative storytelling will only grow in demand from employers across all industries and job types. Fortunately, today’s era of the ‘Creator Economy’ allows anyone to express their creativity and share their passion with the world. Tools like Adobe Express make it easy to create standout content from thousands of beautiful templates so everyone can express their creativity independent of skill level.

Further, creativity and digital literacy skills have become of immense importance to how teachers teach and students learn. Research conducted by Adobe in partnership with Civitas Learning and LinkedIn last year reinforces this by showing that not only do creative and digital literacy skills deliver better student outcomes in class, but these skills also deliver better outcomes for the institutions that invest in teaching them. Creative expression is an essential 21st century skill in education, and Adobe tools are uniquely positioned to empower young creators and students to enhance their learning outcomes and develop critical skills to tell their stories. It’s encouraging to see that when educational institutions maximize their investments in digital literacy and equip educators with the tools necessary to infuse creativity across all curricula, students are more successful and the skills they learn are a catalyst for long-term career success.

I can’t wait to see what the students create with Adobe Express and the impact they have in the classroom, in the world and in their careers.
