National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate and recognize the incredible contributions of volunteers across the country who give their time, energy, and resources to make a positive impact in their communities. It's a chance to show gratitude and inspire others to get involved and give back in their own, unique way.

Volunteers play a vital role in creating positive change in the world – it's estimated that nearly 1 billion people around the world volunteer in some way, from supporting local schools and charities to responding to natural disasters and global crises.

Guided by purpose

At Adobe, we believe that the work done by volunteers and nonprofits is essential to building strong, resilient communities. We partner with local nonprofits to create positive outcomes in our communities, and in 2022, Adobe’s global employees volunteered over 150,000 hours, along with Adobe donating over $113M (cash and in-kind) to communities worldwide, to support 89,000+ organizations.

We launched Adobe Express for Nonprofits with the vision of supporting Nonprofits all around the world, giving them access to thousands of design assets and templates to quickly and easily create unique content that communicates and drives their missions. We are harnessing our creative and technological strengths to enable the world’s 10 million+ nonprofits to accelerate their mission, engage their donors, reach more people and drive greater impact.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re shining a light on some outstanding organizations and their volunteers.

PATH’s commitment to ending homelessness

Founded in 1983 and serving over 150 cities across the state with 60 locations, PATH is one of the largest homeless service and affordable housing development organizations in California, committed to ending homelessness for individuals, families and communities.

“We work on the front lines of our most vulnerable neighborhoods through street outreach, case management, mental health services, rehabilitation, food support and more. Volunteers allow us to provide critical support to those most at risk.”

R.O.C.K. is SF’s largest provider of active and enrichment programs for youth and children

Since 1994, Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K.) provides in-school, after-school, weekend and summer programs to over 900+ youth and children annually in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood who may otherwise lack access to a variety of positive opportunities and services. The organization also provides resources and services for families in the community including food pantries, financial support and wellness checks.

R.O.C.K.’s work is only possible because of the work of volunteers - the people who are investing in their city, their neighborhood, and their future by providing positive relationships and experiences to at-risk children.

“We started as a volunteer-based organization and volunteers remain critical to our mission, nearly 30 years later. We strive to maintain a low adult-to-student ratio to ensure every student feels supported, and our volunteers are mentors, role models, and caring adults that students can trust.”

Creating enriching arts, education, and wellness programs in Los Angeles with A Place Called Home

A Place Called Home was founded by Debrah Constance in the basement of a church in response to the LA Uprising in 1993. Her goal was to create a safe space for children to go to escape the violence on the streets. 12 children showed up on the first day, and since then, thousands of young people and community members have come through our doors.

APCH provides a safe, nurturing environment with proven programs in the arts, education and wellness for young people ages 8-22 in South Central Los Angeles to help develop healthy, fulfilling and purposeful lives. The organization has served more than 20,000 youth members and over 150,000 residents through family and supportive services over the last 30 years.

“It takes everyone – individuals and groups, one-time and recurring volunteers – who joyfully and generously shares their time with APCH to help foster our safe, nurturing environment and bring our transformative programs in the arts, education and wellness to life.”
