My Studio, My Story: Drawing creative inspiration from unexpected spaces with Kelsey Ellison
Country singer-songwriter, dancer, trained actor and content creator, Kelsey Ellison wears many (cowgirl) hats. What started as a hobby in 2010 – creating and uploading content on YouTube, is now a full-time job for Kelsey.

For Kelsey, when it comes to finding creativity and her fervent pursuit for better representation, inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. Kelsey emphasises the significance of having designated creative sanctuaries – different spaces for song writing, for filming, for expression. Whatever the space, Kelsey keeps them sacred.

Kelsey’s creative journey has been guided by her belief in the power of individualism. From her personalised pink guitar case to her dancing queen music set top, Kelsey’s Barbie-core inspired studio is curated with fun and sentimental items that remind her of who she is, and her unique traits. Fans of Kelsey love her radiating personality and infectious warmth, along with her wardrobe of sparkly, bold, and colourful outfits.

From seclusion to spotlight
It hasn’t always been easy for Kelsey to fully express who she is. As a child, the lack of representation on most screens impacted her self-confidence. “It’s not every day you see someone with one eye represented in the media” she says. While it’s been a lonely journey, the experience served as a catalyst to be more open in her adulthood and as a content creator, about the unique characteristics that make Kelsey, Kelsey.
“It’s why I’m so passionate about being present on camera now and being so obvious about my disability so that other people will never ever feel [lonely] like that.”
