Interop with Sampler, OpenPBR Initiative, and updates in Modeler
July brings exciting updates to Substance 3D, including improved interoperability with Substance 3D Sampler and your favorite 3D tools, major advancements in material standardization with OpenPBR Surface V1.0, and a new Assets panel, enhanced scene organization and import/export capabilities in Substance 3D Modeler.
Interoperability with Sampler
With the latest release of Substance 3D Sampler, you can now send materials to third-party 3D applications with a single-click. Getting materials into Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, 3ds Max or Blender has never been easier. The Substance Connector, an open-source framework that makes connecting 3D software tools to share data easier, allows you to selectively expose Substance parameters when sending materials from Sampler to 3rd party tools. This is both a timesaver and a productivity enhancer — making Sampler an invaluable addition to your 3D pipeline.

New 3D Assets panel in Modeler along with improved scene organization and enhanced IO
Kitbashing & Search by Shape with the Assets panel
The new Assets panel provides instant access to the Substance 3D Assets library directly within Substance 3D Modeler. Now you can not only browse through thousands of assets, but you can also replace any rough sculpt or object in your scene with an object matching its shape.
The assets are imported as clay layers to let you use Modeler’s tools to modify and integrate the assets into the current scene. Please note that the Assets panel is currently only available in the Creative Cloud version of Modeler.
Scene outliner
With the new scene outliner in the updated release of Substance 3D Modeler, you can visualize the overall scene hierarchy to keep complex scenes better organized. This fully interactive panel lets you select, rename, rearrange, and delete 3D objects in your scene.
Improved import and export
Also new in Modeler, import and export has been redesigned to improve quality and flexibility within 3D pipelines. You can now import 3D geometry at a much higher quality with the new subdivision settings. Increasing the subdivisions gives a better curved surface and less faceting when converting to a sculptable clay layer.
When exporting from Modeler, you can find export settings organized in a new easy-to-use panel that includes a number of export presets to get you started.
