Today, we are announcing new features in Adobe Stock that enable creators to accelerate their content selection process and find more unique, relevant content they can customize to their aesthetic and brand preferences.
Connecting these features to the Adobe Stock collection increases the versatility of an asset, which we believe will make it more likely to be licensed, increasing contributor earnings potential. With these new features on Adobe Stock, Contributors are also compensated when the generated output created from a Stock image used as a reference is downloaded.
Creators using stock content have shared that finding the perfect content for their project needs is time consuming and takes away from the creative work they love to do. We believe these features deliver more of what creators have loved — high-quality content and peace of mind knowing content is designed for commercial use. With demand for content increasing, we wanted to provide opportunities for creators to develop content at scale with confidence and continue to support our Contributor community.
New ways to find and enhance Adobe Stock images for any project
Released to our business customers earlier this year, Generative Edits and Generate Variations is now generally available, offering a set of generative AI customization features to creators that allow them to quickly discover content, as well as edit and refine Stock assets to meet their needs. We believe that AI is a tool to enhance and elevate creative workflows, and we’re building that directly into the tools and workflows creators use, where Contributors are compensated when their Stock asset is used as a reference and the resulting generated output is downloaded.
These new features are powered by our Adobe Firefly family of generative AI models and pave the path to new creative workflows where generative AI and Stock content come together.
All Stock customers can now apply the following Generative Edits to Adobe Stock images before licensing them:
Replace Background: This feature gives you the flexibility to swap the background of any photo with a newly generated image. Write a text prompt describing what you want your background to look like, and then watch as your image is transformed. Explore taking your subject from a sunny beach to a snow-filled mountain landscape. It’s never been faster or easier to customize an image to meet your exact design needs.
Remove Background: This feature allows you to effortlessly remove the background of any photo with a single click so you can use the subject in a composite. It works with both AI-generated and traditional stock, giving you the power to work faster without sacrificing quality.
Expand Image: Released in fall of 2023, this feature is now available for use before you license an image. Expand Image allows you to adjust an image to fit a new aspect ratio — it generates additional content that blends naturally with the original image. Now you can easily use the same image across different social media platforms.
All customers can also use the following Generate Variations features to customize and tailor their creative outputs:
Style: With this feature, you can seamlessly align the aesthetic of a generated image with the style of any existing Adobe Stock image. Type a text prompt, and Style will apply the overall aesthetic of your chosen image to your newly generated output. This will enable you to experiment with different styles and create a cohesive visual theme and ultimately download from Adobe Stock.
Composition: Find an image you love, and this feature will match its outline and depth and then apply the composition to a newly generated image that you describe in a text prompt. Together, Composition and Style allow you to adjust content to make it more unique and customized to your needs or branding guidelines.
Additionally, we are introducing a new feature, Library Tray, which enables creators as they browse the Adobe Stock site, to see the assets they've saved and collected at the bottom of their searches in the new library tray.
When using these generative AI features, powered by Adobe Firefly, and clicking the “Generate” button, a generative credit will be used. And depending on your plan type, an Adobe Stock credit may be used when downloading the image. We have also enhanced our submission guidelines and usage policies to require people to clearly identify generative AI content as such on Adobe Stock.
Our continued support towards the Contributor community
All Adobe Stock downloads, including images customized using Generative Edits and Generative Variations, are designed to be commercially viable, are backed by IP indemnification for eligible customers, and compensate Stock contributors directly. Additionally, we are growing the opportunity for Contributors to potentially expand their earnings.
As technology evolves and you look for new ways to amplify your work, Adobe will continue to develop AI responsibly. We see AI as a tool to enhance and elevate your creative workflows, not to replace them.
We’re committed to making creativity more accessible for all, and we’ll keep innovating in partnership with customers like you and the Adobe Stock Contributor community. You can explore the new features in Adobe Stock today at stock.adobe.com.
