People names Adobe to its Top 50 Companies That Care list for the fourth year in a row
Adobe’s mission has always been to create products that empower people to change the world. And in this moment, the power of creativity and the ability for it to have a global impact has never been more relevant.
That belief paired with our company values — to be genuine, exceptional, innovative, and involved — has had a profound impact on not just our employees and customers but on our extended communities. By leveraging our collective creativity, we’ve strived to create positive change, and we’re honored those efforts have been recognized.
People notice
For the fourth year in a row, People magazine included Adobe on its list of the Top 50 Companies that Care.
This year, People’s list highlights the top US companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating outstanding respect, care and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. For its list, People teamed up with Great Place to Work to survey 4.8 million employees on how they feel their workplaces are making a difference. The rankings reflect survey results run from March 2019 - March 2020, but highlights activities in response to COVID-19.
Our employees agree
We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition from our employees. It’s through their participation, generosity and support for our policies and programs that we’re able to do our part in giving back as a global company.
When asked to share what makes Adobe a great place to work, one employee said, “The care they have for their employees. Adobe demonstrates that they care more about the employee than the bottom line. I have never felt more supported as an employee.”
Now more than ever, we know that our employees are balancing work and life and are seeking flexibility and support. We show our ongoing commitment to employees through meaningful benefits like industry-leading family leave, adoption assistance and fertility benefits, unlimited paid time off, sabbaticals and more. And in light of COVID-19, we’ve rolled out additional support for employees during this challenging and unprecedented time, including resources for physical emotional wellbeing. A few recent updates include:
- Work from home policy extension through July 31, 2021, to give employees the ability to work from home until it’s safe for their personal situations.
- Global COVID-19 Time-Off Benefit for employees directly impacted by COVID-19, either because they are ill, caring for a family member who is ill, or lacking child or elder care.
- Regular company-wide days off every third Friday beginning September 18 through December 2020 to provide time and flexibility for employees to fully unplug.
- Increased wellness reimbursement of $600 as well as an expanded scope of items covered in this program to include online learning tools, extracurricular activities, books, activity kits and art supplies to help parents with childcare and remote learning.
Outside of benefits, we believe that when people feel appreciated and included, they can be more creative, innovative, and successful. We call this Adobe For All. This week, we are hosting our annual Adobe For All internal event to discuss progress and plans in areas including equality, parity, and inclusion. The event features executive keynotes as well as guest speakers and is open to all of our employees globally in a virtual format this year. One of the highlights of the event are the employee speakers who share their personal stories, helping to build empathy and perspective for the unique individuals and differences across our company. Adobe has long believed that our greatest asset is our people, and this event brings that belief to life. We recently shared our Taking Action Initiative and we are committed to harnessing the best of Adobe — our people, platform, creativity and innovation — to make lasting change inside and outside of our company.
Creating change creates a positive culture
We understand that being a great place to work is about the culture a company creates and the communities it builds. We believe it’s imperative that we have a company culture that cares and is involved. Each year our employees come together to choose causes that matter to them and invite local nonprofits to apply for grants through our Employee Community Fund. In 2019, our grant-makers awarded $4 million to 200 nonprofits.
We are thankful for the time and effort our employees spend engaging with their communities, especially in difficult circumstances; already clocking in over 50,000 hours to nonprofits in 2020. So far this year, to support our communities locally and globally, Adobe has made a $5 million donation to trusted organizations that address critical causes — from providing food and shelter to those in need to securing life-saving ventilators and other medical services.
We also recognize the impact our technology can have in empowering nonprofits. Last year alone we donated $24.8 million in digital media software to nonprofit organizations around the world, giving millions of young creators the chance to express their creativity and tell their story.
As a part of our longstanding commitment to elevate diverse voices and create greater opportunities for all — especially the underrepresented, we partner with organizations that share the same mission. Earlier this year, we joined forces with The New York Times’ T Magazine to spotlight female creators — aiming to inspire more diverse creators. As founding members of the Sundance Ignite Program, we’re helping young, aspiring filmmakers tap into their creativity to shape the future of filmmaking.
By investing in our employees, our communities and empowering the next generation to share their story, we’ve helped move the needle on social issues, enhance education, improve the environment, and make our world a better place. We are committed to harnessing the best of Adobe — our people, platform, creativity and innovation — to create change in the communities where we live and work.
