The “who, what, where” of finding your dream company

Adobe Employees connecting in the office

Today, Great Place to Work and Fortune Magazine recognized Adobe as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, landing at number 31 this year. Adobe takes great pride in being recognized on this prestigious list for 23 years and continues its commitment to creating a positive workplace experience.

For more than 40 years, we’ve been listening to what our employees find valuable in their work experience. Here are three questions to ask yourself when looking for the perfect company for you.

Who will I work with?

Your job is not just what you do, but who you’re surrounded by. When employees connect and feel like they belong, this results in stronger employee attraction, engagement, and retention. Think about the work relationships you desire in a company, how you want to build them, and the opportunities companies offer to help you create them.

At Adobe, we strive to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can collaborate to create the future. Through Lab82, our employee experience experimentation program, we have developed new best practices to enable employees to be collaborative and productive wherever they are. We encourage team building exercises to increase meeting effectiveness and facilitate in-person office connections with “Join Me” signs employees can display.

What do I value?

Your values are a key part of your identity, and it’s important to think about what guides your actions and brings you joy when planning your job search. Consider what motivates you, what your ideal workday looks like, what benefits you’d like, and what kind of environment allows you to thrive. Write these down and start looking for companies that align with them. For example, if you value fairness in how employees are compensated, seek out companies committed to pay parity.

Your values are created and nurtured through the actions you take every day, which naturally means they can change over time. Similarly, Adobe recently evolved its company values to reflect the attributes and actions that will bring us success in our next chapter of growth.

Where do I want to grow?

As important as it is to find a company where your skills shine, it’s also critical to choose a company where you can grow professionally. Set learning and development goals for yourself and look for companies that want you to thrive in the workplace and beyond.

At Adobe, employees have ongoing conversations with their managers called Check-in to inspire great performance and support career growth year-round. We also offer a Professional Development Reimbursement, giving employees $1,000 USD to use toward learning opportunities. Whether an employee wants to participate in a workshop, enroll in an online course, or purchase business books, we want to help them grow.

We’ve always recognized that people are our greatest asset. We are grateful for our employees who work together to carry out our mission of changing the world through digital experiences and remain committed to creating an exceptional work experience for all. Great ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours.

Adobe named 31 in Fortune 100 best companies to work for 2023.

To determine the 2023 list, Great Place to Work surveyed over half a million employees on issues including how trustworthy, caring and fair the company is in times of crises; employees’ physical, emotional and financial health; and the company’s broader community impact. Particular attention was paid to how employees’ experiences varied depending on their job role, gender, race/ethnicity, payroll status, and other characteristics to ensure that the company is creating a great workplace for all.
