At Adobe, we believe that it’s not just what you do, but how you do it that matters. Our commitment to doing the right thing by focusing on people, purpose and community has guided our evolution and growth over the past four decades. It also inspires our more than 28,000 employees worldwide to invent the future and change the world for the better.
Today, we released Adobe’s 2022 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, highlighting how we’ve driven impact. Core to our purpose are three areas we believe we are uniquely positioned and motivated to make a difference: Adobe for All, Creativity for All, and Technology to Transform.
We have a steadfast commitment to harnessing the best of Adobe — our people, platform, creativity and innovation — to continue making lasting change inside and outside of our company. In 2022, Adobe donated over $113 million (cash and in-kind) to communities worldwide, along with global employees volunteering over 150,000+ hours, to support 89,000+ organizations. Below are some key accomplishments:
Adobe for All
We’ve always believed that people are our greatest asset. Adobe for All encapsulates our commitment to create a workplace where everyone feels included, respected, and can make an impact. In 2022, we made progress across diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by building a more diverse workforce, fostering an inclusive workplace, and mobilizing our ecosystem of partners to make an impact outside the company.
- We’ve increased the number of women employees in Director and above roles globally by 50 percent and our Black community in the U.S. by 63 percent over the past two years. We also reaffirmed our global commitment to gender pay parity for the fifth year in a row — in addition to achieving pay parity between employees from underrepresented minority (URM) groups and non-URM employees in the U.S. since 2020.
- We continued our support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-serving Institutions (HSIs) by providing financial support from the Adobe Foundation, access to Adobe products, and employee mentoring and career development opportunities to expose more than 22,000 students to skills for jobs in tech and creative industries.
- We are sponsoring the success of URMs in technology careers at Adobe through initiatives such as the McKinsey Connected Leaders Academy in the U.S., Women in Tech Forum career coaching program in EMEA, and Women Emerging Leaders Program in APAC.
Creativity for All
We are committed to leading the way in empowering creators of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels to access the tools, skills and platforms they need to express themselves, reach their full potential and share their unique and diverse perspectives with the world.
- Through the Sundance Ignite and Women to Watch x Adobe Fellowships, we support new and underrepresented voices and talent
sfrom the next generation of filmmakers by providing professional development spanning access to tools, mentorships and resources to empower bold new storytelling in film and media. - Together with the Adobe Foundation, we’re working with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), The Jed Foundation (JED), United for Global Mental Health and Ad Council to support programs that promote mental well-being among young people.
- We put Adobe Express — our free online photo and design tool — in the hands of more than 40 million K-12 students globally, and awarded over $5 million in scholarships to diverse students and career switchers to focus on careers in technology and creative industries.
Technology to Transform
As one of the world’s most innovative software companies whose products touch billions of people, we take the impact of our technology as seriously as the development of the technology itself. We are committed to designing technology that is ethical, responsible and inclusive. Adobe’s innovations are making a significant impact across AI Ethics, Security, Privacy, Trust and Safety, Accessibility and Sustainability.
- The Adobe-led Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which now encompasses more than 1,000 global partners across software, hardware, media, NGOs and education, is combatting misinformation and providing content attribution so creators can get credit for their work.
- We launched Adobe Express for Nonprofits to help the over 10 million nonprofits around the world engage donors and drive greater impact.
We are also committed to sustainability and climate action through our products and operations.
- Adobe’s free Substance 3D Sustainability and Resource Saver calculators estimate the environmental savings that come with using Adobe Substance 3D for 3D design and prototyping, Acrobat for digitizing business workflows, and Acrobat Sign for e-signatures. This enables our customers (like HUGO BOSS) to save time, resources, emissions, and costs — as well as provide data and benchmarks for sustainability initiatives.
- We accelerated our goal of powering Adobe’s global operations with 100% renewable electricity from 2035 to 2025 to support our science-based target and limit global warming to 1.5°C.
- We recently opened Adobe Founders Tower at our headquarters in San Jose — marking the first all-electric building of its scale in Silicon Valley, powered entirely by renewable solar and wind energy.
We’re also proud of the awards and recognition Adobe has received — from landing on FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for 23 years to being named for the eighth year to CDP’s Climate Change ‘A List’, as well as appearing on Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Employers for Diversity” and Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index. When we come together with purpose, we drive the greatest impact across communities and society overall. Check out Adobe’s full 2022 CSR Report to see how we’re driving meaningful impact.
