Meet the 2022 Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellows
Creativity plays a crucial and impactful role in how we tell our stories, and it’s never been more important to elevate new voices, particularly in film. Since 2015, we’ve been proud to work alongside the Sundance Institute, through the Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship — a year-round artist-development program inspiring creativity and supporting emerging filmmakers ages 18 to 25. Over the last seven years our collaboration has supported more than 90 Fellows with the necessary tools, mentorship and resources needed to tell their stories.

With support from Adobe, the Fellowship fosters filmmakers both professionally and artistically. Each Fellow is matched with a Sundance Institute mentor, is eligible for internships and program opportunities and receives an artist grant to produce future work in addition to a complimentary 12-month membership to Adobe Creative Cloud.
We’re excited to see the Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship program continue to lay the groundwork for the emerging creators to grow and develop their craft. Since 2015, ten alumni from previous cohorts have gone on to have short films selected to screen at the Sundance Film Festival, with several projects winning jury awards. Past ignite Fellow Diego Bragà (2021 Fellow) had a short film recently picked up by the NYT Op Docs and former participant, Maliyamungu Muhande (2021 Fellow) was accepted into the 2022 Sundance Producers Summit.
Other Ignite Fellows have gone on to win prizes at SXSW and Tribeca Festival as well as the Shorts Palme D’or at the Cannes Film Festival.
The future is also bright for this new class of Fellows and several of this year’s participants are already in the process of developing feature-length films including Advik Beni and Mykea Fairweather Perry. We can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next.
Adobe believes in the power of creativity and is committed to creating opportunities for emerging artists so they can share their talents and perspectives with the world. Learn more about the ways we are empowering storytellers through our support of Sundance here.
