Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has a new mobile interface to make editing even easier on the go

In June, we unveiled exciting new features to speed up editing, enhance your photos, and share your process.

Today, we’re bringing you early access to a new experience that streamlines your photo editing process in Lightroom for mobile.

We began our journey by engaging with the community to understand how we can address pain points, modernize the interface, and scale for the future. We’re excited to now open this opportunity to the broader community so you can provide feedback to make the experience even better.

Focus on the most important tools

Many of you shared that scrolling through several options can be overwhelming, particularly if you’re new to Lightroom.

So we came up with a streamlined layout that reduces the number of options on screen from 15 to just five. We achieved this by grouping similar tools and moving less frequently used tools to the 3-dot menu. With the expandable toolbar, you can now see your entire toolset in one view without scrolling.

This means that you get quick access to the tools that you use most, make one-handed edits more easily, and enhance your photos in a few easy taps.

“Love the new layout: it's minimalist, modern, simple at first glance and less intimidating. I personally find this new layout exciting and so far, it’s been easy to use.”

A more natural editing process

We also updated the order of the tools, to better reflect how you edit. To the far left, we moved the tools that most of you start with. The more advanced tools, which are typically used at the end of the editing process, are on the right. So now, editing feels more second nature as you naturally move from left to right.

This approach isn’t just more intuitive for everyone, it also makes the learning process easier for those of you who are just starting out.

“I really like this change. It feels more streamlined and honestly natural as I was able to jump right in. It did not feel jarring at all.”
