These three nonprofits are using technology to further their missions and create lasting impact

With the season of giving upon us, I always like to reflect back on the year and look forward to where we’re heading. I want to acknowledge the world feels hard right now, but there are still so many bright spots, including the many incredible nonprofit organizations dedicated to giving back and giving a voice to others to tell their stories. This Giving Tuesday we want to put a spotlight on a few organizations who are helping to make the world a better place.

Creativity is the great enabler and has the power to create change in the world in big and small ways. A year ago, we launched Adobe Express for Nonprofits, to enable changemakers around the world with access to Adobe Express Premium for free, to quickly and easily make standout content to connect with their communities on a greater scale and ultimately expand their impact in the most creative and meaningful ways possible.

“The accessibility of Adobe Express is a really important factor when it comes to our organization specifically, as the majority of our members have a visual impairment. [Adobe Express] makes it possible for these members to volunteer and design digital and social media assets with ease.”

-Beth Lardner, Childhood Eye Cancer Trust

Today, organizations around the world are using Express to accelerate their mission, engage their donors, reach more people and drive greater impact.

We’ve been collecting stories from nonprofits around the world who are using Adobe Express in transformative ways, and in support of Giving Tuesday, we’re excited to highlight a few of these incredible organizations.

PSYDEH empowers women and their communities to create

A Mexican grassroots non-profit organization, PSYDEH works to confront social, economic, and gender inequality in the rural, indigenous state of Hidalgo, where they foster women-driven, sustainable community development.

“Adobe Express is a game changer that allows us to turn ideas into the professional-grade visual assets we need to sustainably transform ourselves, organizations, and society. “

- Damon Taylor, Senior Advisor, PSYDEH

PSYDEH uses Adobe Express for Nonprofits to co-create portraits and narrations with local women partners while also developing a vast online catalog of videos, films and animation unpacking their work. Without a large team or budget, the organization and its women partners rely on the ease and efficiency of tools like Adobe Express to share their impact stories with local stakeholders, global funders, and collaborators around the world.

Over the last year, PSYDEH has created visual assets for their website, social media accounts, and international labor rights training using Adobe. They have also built poster templates in Spanish and the three Indigenous languages in which they work — Otomi, Tepehua, and Náhuatl. These templates are often used by women-led cooperatives and to promote their skills-building workshops and digital inclusion training sessions that brings together hundreds of women across geographic, language, and cultural boundaries.

Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K.) adds Adobe Express to roster of Creative Cloud tools

Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K) aims to nurture the healthy development of children and serves over 900 youth and their families every year.

Since adopting Express last year, R.O.C.K. relies on Adobe Express to create collateral for a wide range of projects — from program materials and social media content to designing fundraising campaigns that span across all of their organization’s teams from fundraising and marketing to social media and programming — from start to finish.

“I create tons of materials and content and save an incredible amount of time without sacrificing an ounce of quality with Adobe Express,” R.O.C.K. Associate Director of Development Hayley Walker says. “Express has made the process so much easier to cohesive and instantly recognizable content, and the output is higher quality (and so is the resolution!) than other tools we’ve used."

R.O.C.K. also uses Express to translate materials into different languages — all within the app, to save time and provide essential program information in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Samoan for their diverse community.

NAACP leverages social media creation for fellowships and internship programming

NAACP is a civil rights organization and part of their focus is on diversity and inclusion in the Hollywood entertainment industry. The organization utilizes Adobe Express in their fellowships and internship programming, where fellows and interns are able to create social media posts and have access to brand and style guides.

“We’re a small creative group within a non-profit, and it’s so beneficial to have our interns or fellows, who may or may not be familiar with the intricacies of our brand guide, be able to confidently have all the pre-approved branding, fonts, and digital assets at their fingertips in one app. This allows them to shoot, edit and generate content while on the move,” Creative Director Cristian Colbert said.

Next spring, the organization plans to fully implement Adobe Express starting with the 55th annual 2024 NAACP Image Awards. The awards celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across more than 80 competitive categories spanning film, television and streaming, music, literature, and podcasts. The organization plans to use Express to create content around the various red-carpet events, fashion shows, awards dinners, nominee luncheon and golf invitational.
