Get integrated with Substance 3D
In February, we’ll focus on the recent updates to the Adobe Substance 3D material workflows with both Cinema 4D and Blender as well as a new addition to Substance 3D Assets.
With native integration into Cinema 4D, artists now benefit from an efficient Substance 3D material workflow that eliminates the need for external plugins or manual imports.
Similarly, the updated Substance 3D add-on for Blender optimizes the use of Substance materials directly within Blender projects, providing both speed and workflow improvements.
Both updates underscore Substance 3D’s commitment to improving workflow efficiency for 3D artists, taking the pain out of workflows and helping to produce the highest quality renders with Substance 3D materials integrated directly into Blender and Cinema 4D.
Let’s take a closer look at the new Substance Integrations.
Substance add-on 2.0 for Blender
The newly updated Substance 3D add-on for Blender optimizes workflows for artists working with Substance 3D materials inside of Blender.
It simplifies the process of accessing and applying Substance materials within Blender, by eliminating the need to manually import materials and texture maps. Now, artists can quickly load, customize, and apply SBSAR files to their models directly in Blender, making it faster to apply materials or to experiment with different looks and parameter adjustments. With the Blender add-on, artists can explore real-time adjustments and fine-tune textures all within Blender.
This new update offers notable performance improvements with faster access to materials and a more responsive experience. Artists have a range of customizable settings, including tiling size, resolution, and export options, which can be tailored to fit any project's requirements. It supports various PBR outputs and enables on-the-fly adjustments of material properties within Blender, so artists can quickly achieve desired looks without wasting time or compromising on quality.

Substance integration in Cinema 4D
The newest update to Cinema 4D (2024.3) introduces an improved material workflow by directly integrating Adobe Substance 3D materials into the software.
This is the result of a collaboration between Adobe and Maxon that eliminates the need for external plugins or manual import methods, giving artists access to a library of parametric, customizable Substance materials directly within Cinema 4D's Asset Browser. This not only simplifies material selection and applying materials, but also makes it faster for artists to experiment with material choices and quickly adjust and apply textures to their 3D models — all within Cinema 4D.
This new workflow offers direct access to high-quality Substance 3D materials and the ability to tweak parameters and see results instantly. Artists can easily modify material parameters such as resolution, color, and specific attributes to fit their scene's needs, without leaving the Cinema 4D environment. This workflow includes advanced support for SBSAR materials in the Node Editor, allowing for intricate material editing and the automatic connection of Substance nodes with Redshift nodes. The integration also supports displacement mapping and the animation of material parameters for creating dynamic and realistic textures.
This integration includes 40 complimentary Substance 3D materials, specially hand-picked by Substance 3D Assets so artists can experience the unique value of using and tweaking ready-to-use Substance 3D materials in their Cinema 4D projects.

Parametric human eye generator
Recently we released a new fully procedural human eye generator on the 3D Assets platform. This material was designed in close collaboration with renowned game developers who worked tirelessly to achieve a level of realism and fidelity with a focus on human expression.
This is a fantastic Substance material for anyone needing to create a realistic human eye material.
Substance 3D Assets is a library of over 18,000 high quality 3D assets exclusively available as part of the Substance 3D Collection. Download the human eye generator.
