Season 2 of “In the Making”, Adobe’s podcast for and about the creator economy, is here

Since 2020, the creator economy has grown exponentially. Millions of people join every year, and Adobe’s Future of Creativity report even found that nearly one in four people around the world are now contributing to it with photography, videography, creative writing, and more.

And so when we launched “In the Making“, our podcast at the intersection of creativity, community, and business, it hit a nerve. Season 1, which featured inspiring conversations with the likes of Puno, Berna Anat, and Aaron Draplin, attracted hundreds of thousands of subscribers and inspired listeners across the globe.

Adobe community leader and advocate Teresa Au came up with the idea for the show when she was hosting and producing a couple of internal podcasts and realized that these amazing creator stories needed to go beyond the ears of her colleagues. She had a vision for a podcast available to everyone that uplifted the millions of creators’ journeys. Each episode would have something people could take away to elevate their own life, creativity, and career.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that “In the Making“ is returning for a new season. Episode 1 — an interview with digital artist Vanessa Rivera — is live now, and subsequent episodes will be published every other week. To kickstart the new season, we sat down with Teresa to find out her highlights from the first 10 episodes, what’s coming up in season 2, and how you too can get involved.

What feedback did you receive for Season 1?

We did a listener survey to close out our first season and heard directly from our audience. We were so thrilled to have so many people respond!

It helped us really understand the value that people get from listening, so we’re able to further plan our programming for the upcoming season based on what our listeners shared with us.

People want more resources along with the episodes, for example — we heard you, and we will be sharing a relevant Adobe Express template with each episode that you can remix for your own social.

We also heard that listeners feel connected to the community through our podcast, so we will do more Discord live hangouts, LinkedIn Live streams, and Adobe Live streams with guests and ME!

What were your own main takeaways from the first season?

Great question! So many stick out for me. If you take a listen to the trailer for season 2, it’s a quick look back at some of the highlights of season one.

I still think about what Jon Youshaei said about how he approaches content creation — he polls his audience to hear what they want to see and what they’re thinking about what he’s posting. We’re doing that very thing on Adobe Live’s Instagram channel — stay tuned for polls there on who you want to see on the show and what topics you want to see covered.

Also, Misha Blaise had so many great tips about how to tap into your creativity and to defeat your inner critic, and she reminded us that we all have a free, accessible portal to creating (our breath!).

What's coming up in Season 2?

It’s more of the same goodness: conversations with creative professionals, creative marketers, and some subject matter experts. It’ll still be honest and go deep, and now that we’ve hit our stride with how popular the first season was, we’ll dig in even further this season.

The season will cover money and the realities of it for creatives, mental health when you live and work online, knowing yourself and connecting to your purpose, and we’re going to hear from some creatives who have been in it for a long time about how they stay fresh and motivated and creative through different career and life cycles.

What are you personally most looking forward to?

I’m always excited about the people. It’s always about the people I get to meet and have an in-depth conversation with, what I can learn from them and also get to amplify out into the world beyond their own communities.

How can listeners get involved?

We want to hear from you! You can email us feedback, questions, guest recommendations, or topics you have on your mind you’d like to see us discuss.

Email us at inthemaking@adobe.com, and if you send us a voice note, we might even play it on air!

I’d also suggest that you follow us on Instagram @AdobeLive, which is where you’ll see what live streams I’ll be doing with guests, on Discord, LinkedIn, Adobe Live, and more. You’ll also find the remixable Express templates for each episode there. Tag @AdobeLive so we see what you create with them!

And as always, all episodes live on our homepage at adobe.ly/inthemaking, which is where you’ll find links and resources from each episode.

As a little sneak preview, can you share one tip from the new season with us?

Here’s a tip from our mental health episode, coming in May: Without community, it’s easy to lose your way. Stay tapped into the communities that are important to you. Which is why I’m here with Adobe and making this show. Thanks for being part of it!
