Adobe Firefly and Pinterest delivered AI-powered “style readings” at Cannes
Imaginative storytellers and leading brands come together once a year at Cannes Lions to collaborate, share ideas, and explore the emerging trends shaping the future of marketing and advertising. At this year’s festival, Adobe and Pinterest partnered to provide a one-of-a-kind immersive experience that blends the fun of a style consultation with the magic of AI-assisted visual discovery. Attendees explored their unique style aesthetic with Pinterest’s visual search features and received personalized style readings with AI-generated images powered by Adobe Firefly.
Unleashing creative expression
The immersive experience at the Pinterest Manifestival empowered each individual to express their unique style. Inspired by Pinterest’s visual search features, it leveraged Visual Language Models to provide users an expansive vocabulary for describing their creative ideas. Upon entering the “Discover Yourself” booth, on-screen prompts guided guests through an interactive exploration of their aesthetic. This began with thermoscanners: Similar to a mood ring, guests hovered their hands over the scanners and activated an aura reading (the booth’s ambient lighting changed accordingly!). A set of objects (from a jacket to a lamp) then provided an inspiration point for guests to express their creativity, with the ability to pin five style tags.


The booth then used AI to generate a custom style reading, with visuals powered by Adobe Firefly generative AI. Firefly brought these style readings to life by visualizing each user’s aura and aesthetic in a set of highly personalized images, based on each participant’s interactions at the booth, from their mood to their style preferences. Firefly also ensured that every image aligned with Pinterest’s clean and modern aesthetic, generating visuals that stayed true to brand guidelines (including the design language of Pinterest’s visual search experience). Firefly’s Style Presets also allowed Adobe and Pinterest to blend multiple visual directions into one cohesive output, capturing nuance at scale. Each style reading was then uploaded so guests could access it on their mobile devices. And each guest received a customizable key charm as well.

For this collaboration, Pinterest leveraged Adobe Firefly Services, a collection of generative AI and creative APIs that brought Text-to-Image capabilities directly into the “Discover Yourself” experience. The team also used Firefly's customization controls, like style presets, to create a myriad of distinct aesthetics such as minimalism, boho and cyberpunk to generate visuals tailored to each guest's unique style and creative taste.
