Adobe Firefly on your Phone

You're out for a hike with your new puppy when a bird swoops down and snatches away half your granola bar. The puppy barks, the bird drops the wrapper and while normally you’d be flustered, this episode gives you a fun idea to promote the adoption event at the animal shelter where you volunteer. So you pull out your phone, open the Firefly app, and prompt it to give you “a stork delivering a floppy-eared border collie wrapped in a blanket into the arms of a little girl holding a granola bar and grinning at her new puppy.” In just a few moments you have a pro-caliber image you can use in flyers, social ads and t-shirts — which you'll get to just as soon as you're back from that hike.

We often come up with our zaniest, biggest and most creative ideas when we're out and about. In times like these, we don’t want to lose the moment by waiting until we get home to get started. With Firefly’s new mobile app, we don’t have to.

The new Firefly mobile app gives you the freedom to generate images and videos wherever you are, using the same technology underlying many of the most powerful features in Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom. You also have the choice of using AI models developed by Adobe’s partners, like OpenAI and Google. You can use Firefly to create everything from b-roll to video backgrounds to hero images and put them in memes, blogs, presentations, posters and anything that can use a little visual pizzaz.

No matter your level of experience, it’s easy to put Firefly mobile to work helping you bring your vision into the world — whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started with AI. We designed the app to complement the ways we already interact with our phones:

Dreaming up an inventive image or video on the go? Just enter a prompt — as detailed as you want it to be — and iterate with tweaks and adjustments as Firefly gives you different variations until you’ve generated something that’s exactly what you've envisioned.

Want to turn a favorite snapshot into video? Firefly can help you animate your still image to make it pop with ease. And if that picture is three passersby away from perfect? No worries, Firefly’s got this — with Generative Remove you can replace the unwanted people instantly with new objects you dream up.

Looking to share your ideas on social? Sometimes the most tedious part is remaking your image in all the different dimensions and orientations that different social channels require. Now you can use Generative Expand ito have Firefly reorient it for you. It even fills in the empty spots on your canvas.

Everything you create with Firefly’s mobile app is synced automatically with your Creative Cloud account, so it’s easy to go back and forth among your phone, the web app (where you can experiment with more models and media types) and desktop apps like Photoshop, Premiere and Lightroom.

We’ve been working with a number of creators through the early beta development who’ve shared feedback and helped us shape the Firefly app — and it’s been amazing to see how it’s come in handy in their work so far. For example, Kaki Kirk (@queen_kirk) has been using it to generate backgrounds for her videos so she can magically transport herself from tropical beaches to heart-pounding concerts to inspiring classrooms — without leaving home.

Like @queen_kirk, Syd Paige (@sydpaige_) loves using Firefly to spice up her videos from her phone. “There’s nothing worse than sitting down to edit a project and realizing that you have a gap in your b-roll,” she explains. To create b-roll, Syd starts with still images in Firefly on mobile, which she reimagines using Generative Remove and Text-to-Image. Next, she uses Image to Video to convert them into full-fledged clips.

Self-taught iPhone creator and Adobe senior evangelist Elise Swopes (@eswopes) is using Firefly mobile to transform her still images into entirely new scenes with dynamic animations from the Firefly app, transforming the aesthetic and bringing content to life like an OOTD photo shot on the go in the streets of New York city:
