Alexandru Costin

Alexandru Costin is Vice President, Generative AI and Sensei at Adobe. In this role he is charged with building and integrating generative AI models into Adobe’s creative tools, and building AI and Machine Learning data, training and inference technologies and infrastructure for Adobe Research and Applied Research. A 17-year Adobe veteran, Alexandru is passionate about machine learning and its impact on the world.

Alexandru and his team most recently spearheaded the launch of Adobe Firefly, the company’s first Generative AI model, designed to empower customers of all experience levels to generate high quality images and stunning text effects. Firefly will be integrated directly into Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Experience Cloud and Adobe Express workflows.

Alexandru’s team works closely with Adobe Research labs to productize creative professional focused Generative AI models for content creation and editing. His team is also exploring co-pilot experiences, looking into the new dialog-based user content editing and other next-generation paradigms like neural document formats.

The team is also building and curating a set of high-quality, comprehensive, and ethically sourced AI training datasets; helping research teams build models for different document types – images, videos, text, vectors, and 3D.

Alexandru also oversees the Sensei Platform – the company’s “AI Superhighway” for tech transfer – enabling teams in Adobe Research and applied research to be more efficient in distributed model training, GPU clusters usage, AI model conversion and quantization for cloud and on-device efficient execution.

Alexandru started as an entrepreneur, founding InterAKT, a web tools company acquired by Adobe. He ran Adobe Romania for 10 years and relocated to the U.S. in 2016 to lead the Generative AI and Sensei AI and ML organization.

Alexandru received his undergraduate degree and his Master’s degree from University Politehnica of Bucharest.
