Introducing Adobe Scan
Today we launched Adobe Scan, a new free mobile app that turns your phone or tablet into a smart scanning tool – making it easy to create digital documents from anywhere. By leveraging Adobe’s advanced image processing techniques, powered by Adobe Sensei, Adobe Scan captures images in a snap and transforms them into brilliantly clear Adobe PDFs with text you can reuse.
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in a scanning app is nothing new, but other apps typically require a subscription or paid upgrade for the technology. OCR in Adobe Scan is completely free, converting printed text to digital text in seconds. It’s fast and easy to capture multi-page documents too. In fact, Adobe Scan is optimized for capturing multi-page documents without sacrificing quality. Other free apps limit the number of pages you can scan or they watermark the images. Adobe Scan is different.
What’s more, scans are stored in Adobe Document Cloud so they’re always available on your desktop and mobile devices. Adobe Scan also works perfectly with Acrobat DC so you can do even more if you’re a subscriber – edit and organize documents, collect signatures and take advantage of new mobile features in Adobe Sign to digitally sign and send documents from any device.
Whether you’re a designer, a lawyer, a student or a salesperson, Adobe Scan will help digitally transform your life. Check out the video and step by step guide below and try it for yourself!
Scan anything in a snap.
Hold the device over whatever you want to scan—forms, pictures, notes, receipts, business cards, even whiteboard discussions. Using Adobe’s advanced image technology, powered by Adobe Sensei, Adobe Scan automatically finds the edges of your document, then captures and cleans the image. Voila! You have a scanned image. You can now re-name your scan, add a photo, reorder pages, crop, rotate, or enhance it. But, that’s just the beginning…
Get text you can work with.
After you’ve captured a scan, you’ll be prompted to save it as an Adobe PDF in Adobe Document Cloud so you can get to it anytime, from anyplace. The scan is converted automatically. Free optical character recognition (OCR) recognizes printed text. What was once just a scanned image is transformed (in seconds) into a versatile Adobe PDF you can search, highlight, mark-up, comment on, and share.
Now, your documents have PDF power.
Once your scans are converted into smart PDFs available in Adobe Document Cloud, they’re easy to edit, search, and share from anywhere. Just press Open in Acrobat (or access them in Acrobat from your desktop) and you’ll be able to find key words, add comments, sign, or send your PDFs for review.
