A new chapter for storytelling and filmmaking

One of my favorite times of year is awards season for the entertainment industry, and this year it holds a special resonance. Being a few months in at Adobe, it’s wonderful to see firsthand the role the company plays in bringing award-winning films to life.

Since joining Adobe as Chief Marketing Officer, I have been blown away by the creativity and impact of Adobe’s community across design, photography, film, animation, illustration, audio, 3D and more. It’s a testament to our culture of innovation and Creativity for All ethos that for more than 40 years, Adobe has powered storytelling across all mediums.

We had the privilege of celebrating and advocating for the independent film community at the Sundance Film Festival last week. At Sundance, the Adobe House was the creative hub bringing together hundreds of filmmakers and film lovers to celebrate creative professionals and emerging filmmakers, as well as to discuss the role Adobe’s products play in powering culture-defining storytelling.

What’s clear from the conversations we’re having with our customers and partners at studios, media companies and streaming platforms is that the confluence of technology and film is creating an exciting new chapter in how creators can tell their stories and how they are distributed and marketed.

A24 is among the leading studios bringing a fresh perspective to film and television. Scott Belsky will soon leave Adobe to take up a new role as Partner at A24, and I’m excited to see how his experience developing technology will translate to the entertainment industry. He'll work to deepen A24’s commitment to filmmakers by building tools and resources to support their creative visions. We have always partnered with studios around the world, and we have already begun conversations with Scott and A24 on how the two companies can partner to progress the art of storytelling.

Adobe Film & TV Fund.

Adobe has long been a foundational partner to the entertainment industry, with many original films and television shows powered by Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Frame.io, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop and the Substance 3D Collection. This includes films like “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which was made possible using innovative techniques to create groundbreaking visuals; the hit series “The Bear” which mastered tempo and rhythm; and most recently Oscar-nominated “Anora.” From indie directors making their first shorts to directors and editors working on a blockbuster scale, filmmakers rely on Adobe. We’re committed to continuing to support the industry through our products, partnerships and the Adobe Film & TV fund, and we can’t wait to find and create new ways to help storytellers bring their visions to life.
